Card Set - Simple

I went to Michael's Monday to get the yarn for Donna's scarf.  While I was there I checked out the Studio G bins.  I love all that $1 stuff.  I found several packs of note cards (one pictured below.  I thought the embossing on this one was really nice.

I've been wanting to make a card set for a friend as a thank you for helping me.  I decided this set of cards would make a nice one.  So I started.  I knew I would need labels, so I turned on my trusty Cameo and looked for a file I could use on these.  The one I chose is Stacked Label Set by Sophie Gallo-Design ID#40619.  It is a multi-layered label but I separated it and only used 2, one for the wording and a larger one for the shadow.  I made a pageful of each phrase to have some on hand in the future.  I used a font on my computer for the wording.
Here are pictures of the finished cards.  I attempted to  color the embossing on one of them but I don't really like the way it turned out.  I used ribbon, trim and gems I had on hand to complete them.  Super simple cards but I like how they turned out.  I hope my friend will like them.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you're staying warm.  I'm getting cabin fever from being iced in.  God Bless You!!!  Peggy

Arm Knit Scarf

I know this is not a card but I want to show you something new I learned this week.  I had never heard of it before.  I got an email from Lion Brand Yarns and it contained a video showing how to "arm knit".  Needless to say I was fascinated.  I love to learn new things.  Here's the link to the video.   I think you will be as fascinated as I was.  I told Donna to pick out a color of yarn and I would give it a go.  She chose a gold and here is a picture of her scarf.
She wanted to wear it as a cowl, so I made a straight scarf and sewed the ends together.  Does anyone know any challenges this could be entered in?  It really makes a pretty design when it's laid out straight.

Thank you for allowing me to digress from cards today.  I find if I try different things, it keeps my creativity flowing.  Thanks for stopping by.  Love your comments  Let me know if you might try the "arm knitting."  God Bless You!!!  Peggy

Get Well Soon - Cricut, Silhouette

I have been trying to learn some more about my Silhouette Cameo.  I searched YouTube over the weekend and found a lot of videos.  I decided on learning how to use the sketch pens.  I ordered the starter kit a while back & had not tried them.  I especially like the videos showing how to color different elements with different colors.  Very interesting.  I decided on a card by Samantha Walker.  It has a delicate lacy look if you cut it.  I wanted to see what it would look like if I used the sketch pens instead of the blade.  Here is what it looked like.

After I had drawn the background, Donna told me a friend of ours was in the hospital.  So I decided to make her a card using my sketched card.  Very simple but cute.

Card recipe:
Card Base - Samantha Walker's A5Card - Rows of Lace
Doily Background - Cut from Paper Lace Cricut Cartridge
Sentiment - Sophie Gallo's Get Well Soon - Silhouette Online Store. I added Crystal Stickles to it to give it some sparkle.
Floradoodle Flowers
Leaves were punched with a MS punch.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I pray your week will bring you lots of joy.  God Bless You!!!  Peggy

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JEAN!!! - Silhouette Cameo

Hi Everyone!!  Well, Thursday was the birthday of a very special lady.  That lady is my boss and friend, Jean Payne!  Now I know that I've mentioned my boss many times before and how good she is to me!!  I unequivocally have the BEST boss in the world.  She went to a business meeting this week in Nashville.  Well, she was right beside a Vera Bradley Outlet and she knows I LOVE Vera!  Well, what did she do?  She came back from the meeting with a VERA BRADLEY bathrobe for me!!!  LOVEEEE ITTT!!!  Told you I had the best boss!

Well, since it was my boss' birthday and since I talk about her all the time - I thought I'd include a picture of her.  Here she is - the BEST BOSS IN THE WORLD, Ms. Jean Payne!!

As you see in the picture, we had cupcakes and coffee this morning with the volunteers in our office.  I sent an email last week reminding the volunteers that it was Jean's birthday and to send emails wishes and cards.  She's gotten LOTS of wishes because we have over 500 volunteers and Jean knows "everyone" in Chattanooga.

Well, on to my card - it's a very simple Happy Birthday cut out that I purchased from Silhouette.  I copied the scalloped circle twice and merged it into the card base.  Then I cut the scalloped circle in green cardstock and the Happy Birthday in yellow cardstock and glued a button to the center of the flower.  Jean asked me if my doggie, Buttons, helped put the button on the card.  She's so funny!!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  We appreciate your visits and your comments.  Until another day, God Bless You!!  Donna

Sherri Baldy Image Birthday Card

Donna has told you about her boss several times.  She is an amazing woman.  She and Donna manage several hundred volunteers(of which I am one) at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN.  Today is her birthday and Donna asked the volunteers to send her a card.  Donna is planning a little party for her.  This is the card I'm sending.

The image is a Sherri Baldy digistamp.  Here is a link to her Etsy store.  She has such cute images.  The coloring of this image was a joint effort between Donna & I.  We used colored pencils & Promarkers.  After coloring, I added chalk to the background to highlight it.  Then I placed a frame cut from Kay and Co. paper over the image, added pearls, flowers & butterflies punched using a Martha Stewart punch.  The photograph doesn't do the card justice.  The colors don't show as bright as they are.  But maybe you can get an idea of it.

Thank you for coming by today.  Donna & I really appreciate your visits.  Be sure to come by tomorrow to see Donna's card for Jean.  God Bless You!!!! Peggy

Two Masculine Birthday Cards

I have two brothers and their birthdays are in January.  I needed some inspiration so I got on Pinterest to see if I could find some masculine cards.  I've never spent a lot of time on Pinterest but I did that day.  It is a wonderful resource to find inspiration and to display your creations.  This is my take on a couple of cards I saw that day.  I hope my brothers will appreciate them.

I embossed both card bases with the Cuttlebug Birthday Embossing Folder.  The paper is Blue Awning by K & Co.
I used the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge for the Label on this one, then inked everything with Outdoor Denim Ink by Close To My Heart.
On this one, I used the Cricut Artiste Cartridge for the flags.  The label & sentiment was made with the Silhouette Cameo.  I love how you can add your sentiment to a label, then print and cut it.  Everything was inked with a chestnut colored ink.

Now if you know anything about me, you know that I have a hard time with masculine cards.   So much so that I sent my grandson in CA a store bought card for his birthday in November thinking it doesn't matter to him.  When he was home for Christmas he let me know how disappointed he was.  He said he had saved all my handmade cards through the years and then I send him a store bought one.  I promised I would do that again.  OOOPS!!

Thank you for visiting with us.  God Bless You!!!! Peggy

Valentine Wreath

Today I'm going to share a different craft Donna & I have tried a few times.  We got together Saturday afternoon at her house and made a Valentine Wreath.  I don't have a sweetheart so I wasn't too thrilled about making such a wreath.  However, to get to spend time with my sweet daughter, I decided it was okay.  Here is mine.  Donna hasn't finished hers.

We went to Hobby Lobby after Christmas when the decorations were 80% off.  We purchased magenta colored mesh, animal print ribbon, Christmas ornaments (to be used next year) and wreath forms.  The wreath forms were only like $1.49.  Oh my, we found lots of bragging bargains.  Love those "bragging bargains".  If they had been any better they would have paid us to take them.  LOL

I used the magenta colored mesh and animal print ribbon for my wreath.  I asked Donna if she thought my neighbors would run me out of the neighborhood for have such a flashy wreath on my door.  I haven't heard any comments yet.

You know sometimes when people don't like something they just don't say anything.  Donna did me that way not long ago.  I tried doing my hair different.  When she came by that afternoon, she didn't say a word about my hair.  A couple of days later, I said something to the effect, "I changed my hair the other day but you didn't notice."  She said, "I did notice."  I replied, "Oh you didn't like it so you didn't say anything."  She said, "Uh Huh."  Enough said.  LOL  Needless to say, I haven't tried it again.

Thank you for stopping by today.  We love your visits and comments.  God Bless You!!!  Peggy

Baby Photo Album - Cricut Cartridge Arbooking, Cricut Expression, Silhouette Cameo

Hi Everyone!  I hope you all have had a good weekend!  We are still in the process of celebrating Jacob's 13th birthday.  He thinks his celebrations should continue on through the weekend which they usually do.  Yes, you're right, he is somewhat spoiled!

Now on to my project!!  I have a friend, Melissa, that is having a baby boy in March.  The department she works in at our hospital held a baby shower for her and Baby Lucah on Friday.  So as part of her gift, I decided that I would make her a photo album.

Now I must say that I have fallen in LOVEEEEE with the new Cricut Artbooking Cartridge.  If you ever want to make a photo album for someone, this is the cartridge for you.  There are so many different sizes and styles of books that you can choose from and all you have to do is choose the book/page you want to make, load the paper, and cut!!  VIOLA - a la book!!!

I decided to make the 8 x 6 photo album which is a baby theme book.  I did use a few of my other Cricut Cartridges to add more embellishments like a choo choo train to some of the pages but most of the embellishments, overlays, sayings, etc. came straight off this cartridge.

The title on the front of the book was created with the Silhouette Cameo - downloaded, printed, and cut - then I popped it with 3D pop dots. I hope you enjoy see the different pages below:

I gave this book to Melissa on Friday and she LOVED it.  Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Mom and I appreciate your visits and your comments.  It was nice to read some of your comments last week saying that you had missed our posts.  Until another day, God Bless You!!  Donna

Card Inspired by Enfys Cashmore

Enfys Cashmore of Going Buggy is an amazing designer.  She has been posting projects using votive candle borders she found at their Hobbycraft store in the UK.  They are beautiful.  I tried to find them online but could only find them at the Hobbycraft site.  Unfortunately, they do not ship internationally.  So I reminded myself I have LOTS of Cricut cartridges that I could use to make a border.  I used Enfys' card as my inspiration.  Her's is gorgeous but I like the way mine turned out too.  If you click on the Going Buggy, you can see her card.
 Card Recipe:
A2 Card Base
Anna Griffin Cuttlebug Embossing Folder - emboss the front of the card.
Border - Paper Lace Cricut Cartridge
Leafy Branch - Artiste Cricut Cartridge
Flower - Mother's Day Bouquet Cricut Cartridge. Flower cut at 2" to 3.5" increasing .25 in. for each layer.  I used a page from the DCWV French Country paper stack.

We Have A Teenager!!

Today is Jacob's 13th birthdayI cannot believe that much time has passed since  he was born.  To me he is still so little.  He is mistaken for a 10 year old when we go out to eat.  Donna & I keep praying for him that he will eat & grow.  Looks like he's going to be a late bloomer but that's okay.  For his birthday, I made this card.

Jacob is a big Georgia Bulldogs fan, so I chose red & black for the colors.  I used Cricut Craft Room & Craft Room Basics (everyone who downloads CCR gets access to this digital cartridge) to cut out the letters & numbers.  The sunburst is a Silhouette Studio cut file.  I added some faux stitching, which doesn't look the best in the world.  You can tell I've been out of the card making mode for a while.  I think Jacob will be happy though when he finds money inside it.  He won't care what the card looks like.  LOL

Thank you so much for visiting with us today.  God Bless You!!!  Peggy

Save The Date Card

Last year, 2013,  I could not get my whole family together for any of the holidays.  Since my children have gotten married, it has been our custom to get together on Thanksgiving because they like to be at their homes on Christmas.  I did a lot of driving in December in order to see my siblings and my son & his family as I get to see Donna more than any of them.  I had a very good time but was worn out when I got back.  Donna said, "Mom, we're going to send out invitations in January so everyone can plan to come here in November."  But rather than an invitation, I found a "Save The Date" card in the Silhouette Cameo Online Store.  Donna wrote a little poem to go inside asking them to mark their calendars to come to "Mamaw's" house the week of Thanksgiving.

These are the supplies I used:
Save The Date Card from Silhouette
Rustic paper stack
Stickles for the center of flowers
Butterfly punch by Martha Stewart.

I'm really loving my Cameo machine.  I still have my Cricut Expression 2 & Imagine so we'll be having posts using them too.

Thank you for visiting with us today.
God Bless You!!!  Peggy

Hi From The Other Half of the Team

Hi Ladies, I hope this finds you all well and happy this new year of 2014.  Weren't you glad to hear from Donna after such a long time of not posting?  Life gets in the way of crafting a lot of time.  I'm sure you all know that.

I haven't been making cards but I have been doing other things.  I have been making scarves for friends and family.  Have you seen the Sashay yarn from Red Heart Yarns?  That is what I used for them.  Here is a picture of some I made.

There are several volunteers who work in the office where Donna works so I made each of them one for Christmas ( they all loved them).  They had seen & loved the ones I made Donna so I thought that would be a good gift for them.  Not only did I make Donna some of the Sashay scarves but I also made her and Buttons a scarf to wear with her coat.  I think I have a picture of them.  You'll have to look closely to see Button's scarf tied around her neck.  She wanted to chew on it, of course.

I hope your New Year is a great one filled with lots of blessings from our Lord.  Thank you for blessing us by visiting our blog I'll be back tomorrow with a simple card I made today.
God Bless You.  Peggy

HAPPY 16TH BIRTHDAY, BRADEN!!! - Silhouette Cameo

Hi Everyone!!  It's me again - two days in a row!!

I have a wonderful friend named Sherry who's son Braden is turning 16 next week.  Braden and my son, Jacob, have birthdays that are three years and 2 days apart.  The funny thing about Braden and Jacob is that they have a LOT of the same behavior traits, personality, and actions even though they are three years apart.  Sherry and I have talked about how if Braden has done it - gone through it, then I know that Jacob will too.  We don't know if it has anything to do with their birthdays being so close - you know all that astrology stuff - but there is definitely something going on.

Well, Braden is a "fishing fanatic" so I decided to make him a card that has something to do with fishing.  I did a search in the Silhouette Online Store and up popped a "fishing reel."  BINGO!  I purchased the cut file and proceeded to cut out the different pieces.  The only problem with the cut file is that I needed a card.  So how I fixed that is I merged two circles together in order to form the card base.  Then I adhered all the pieces to the card base.

For the sentiment inside, I typed - "Wishing you a 16th birthday that is "off the hook!!"  Jacob liked that sentiment - he thought it was "funny punny!"  The assembled card is below:

Thank you so much for coming back today - Mom and I appreciate your visits and comments!  I'm working on another project that will take me a few more days to complete.  I'm making an 8 x 6 scrapbook for a friend of mine that is having a baby in March.  I'm using my Expression and the Artbooking cartridge which is making it very easy to make.  Hope to see and hear from you soon!!

Until another day, God Bless You!! Donna

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! THANK YOU CARD - Samantha Walker and Silhouette

HI Everyone!!!  Oh my goodness, it's been so long since I've done a post of our blog, I hope I can remember how to do it!!  Life for me has been so busy the past couple of months with work and homework for Jacob who is in the 7th grade.  He is working on things that I didn't have to do until high school or college.

Well, I actually went into my "happy space" the other day after months of neglect.  I came out sneezing from all the dust that was on all my machines and paper.  So after I dusted everything off, I sat down to make some Thank You cards.  Let's just say that it had been so long since being in there, I couldn't find some of the supplies that I "knew I had" and still haven't found them - HA!!!!  But I know they're in there somewhere!!!

I decided to use my Silhouette Cameo to make the Thank You cards for a couple of reasons.

1.  Easy peazy
2.  Been so long since I'd made anything, I couldn't come up with an idea of my own.

I downloaded the Thank You card kit from the Samantha Walker gallery and quickly began cutting out all the different pieces.  I used my Cuttlebug Snowflake Embossing Folder to emboss the top layer of the card and then cut out the snowflake from glitter paper.  I was all sparkly from the glitter paper after making the cards - teehee!

I assembled the cards after all the pieces were cut.  I was able to find a blue brad to attach the snowflakes to the cards.

All in all, I think it turned out pretty cute for my first card after months of non-creativity!!  Thank you for stopping by today, we appreciate your visits and your comments.  I hope you'll come back tomorrow.  I have a birthday card that I made for a "fishing fanatic" to show you.
