Our Thankful Hearts

My post today has to be one of Thanksgiving.  The tornadoes that tore through the South yesterday hit the town of Ringgold, GA.  This is the town Donna and her family live in.  The tornado tore a path through the town.  Donna was sending me texts through it all.  She and Jacob spent most of the afternoon and evening in their half bath on the floor.  At one point she covered Jacob's body with her body.  He asked her, "Mommy, am I going to see Papaw tonight?"  Like I said she was sending me texts through this ordeal and I was on my knees praying for them.  I was also praying for the storms to subside.  Fortunately, they were not hurt and their house seems to be not harmed.  I want to thank God for hearing prayers and protecting them.  What would we do if we did not have Him to turn to.

Yesterday was Donna's birthday and she said it was not a very enjoyable one.  Maybe we can make it up this weekend.  She's coming to my house for a Mom and Daughter time together.  Saturday, we're going to Charlotte to a Vera Bradley event.  I'm so looking forward to our trek and time together.

Thank you for visiting.  Please remember the people affected by these tornadoes.  God Bless You!!!!  Peggy

Another Damask Decor Card

Our friend, Stacy, of Love That Bug has been going through the Create A Critter cartridge making a daily project with each page of the handbook.  I am tempted to follow suit with the Damask Decor cartridge.  This cartridge makes creating a card so easy.  I love the card feature.  Be sure to check out Stacy's blog for some really cute cards.
This is another card I made using Damask Decor.   I used the Damask #1 on page 26.  These are the cuts using Design Studio.

Card cut at 8.5 X 5.5"
Card Front cut at 4.25X5.5"
Envelope - I don't know what size I cut it at.  I adjusted it to be sure the card would fit.  The width completely covered the cuttable area of Design Studio.
Flowers are cut from the Mother's Day cartridge at 1.5, 1.25, 1".
Paper is Basic Grey - LilyKate.
There is still room on the front to stamp a sentiment.
Thanks to our wonderful followers.  If you get tired of looking at Damask Decor, let me know.  We do this for you.  God Bless You!!! Peggy

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DONNA!!!!!!

On April 27th a number of years ago, (I can't say how many) I gave birth to the one of the cutest little girls in the world.  She has always been a delight to her Dad and me.  She is one of the most caring and sweet people you will ever meet.  She is very talented as you have seen from her cards.  I am very happy that I was blessed to be her mother.  Here's her very first Easter picture.  She is probably going to kill me for doing this but she'll get over it.  Remember I love you, Donna.
This is the card I made for her.  I know this is going to look like Valentine's Day but she LOVES red.  She loves red and I love the Damask Decor cartridge so I decided to make this card in honor of her birthday.

I cut everything from the Damask #13 design.  The envelope is cut at 4.5 inches.  4 or 4.25 inches would have been sufficient.  I cut the card at 4".  Anything bigger would not have fit on a 12X12 mat.  The card front(black) was cut at 4".  I used some of the scrap cuttings from the card front to decorate the inside of the card and the envelope.  This is a great cartridge for making beautiful cards.  One made with light colors would be fabulous.  I just had to make Donna's red.

Thanks everyone for visiting today.  Please join me in wishing the greatest daughter a Mom could have Happy Birthday.  Happy Birthday, Donna.  God Bless You All!!!  Peggy

Wishing You A Glorious Easter

Of all the days we celebrate as Christians I love Easter the most.  The love the Father showed for us in sending His Son to die for our sins cannot be fathomed.  But Jesus didn't stay in the tomb.  He arose the third day and still lives today at the right hand of the Father.  His mercy and grace are new to us every day.  Hallelujah!!!!

Welcome to our new followers.  We're so glad you decided to join us.  We wish a blessed and glorious Easter to all our blogging friends.  God Bless You!!!  Peggy and Donna

Heart Song Inspirations Bird and Roses

Donna told you yesterday about her Dad's roses so I thought I would just show some of them to you.  They are really showing off this year.  Aren't they pretty?

I'm trying to get back in the groove after my break and going to Donna's house.  We had fun.
This card is for Heart Song Inspirations Design Team.  Leah named this image "Bird and Roses."  The roses reminded me of Ben's Knockout Roses.  I tried to color the bird to resemble a Yellow Finch.  I think they are so pretty and I love it when I see one on my bird feeder.

A2 Card Base
Background Paper - Digital Paper from Create With TLC.
Elegant Edges Cricut Cartridge for yellow label
Cuttlebug Embossing Folders - Floral Screen and Leafy Branch
Ruffled Ribbon - Hobby Lobby
Bling Flowers
Promarkers Used:

HOPPY EASTER - Celebrate With Flourish

Hi Everyone!!  I know many of you have read a lot about my Daddy and how he LOVED to be out in the yard working and loved to garden.  Before he got sick, he took a Knockout Rose bush and rooted numerous new bushes from it.  He gave one of those to me not long before he passed away.  I planted it last year and over the course of a long, dry, hot summer I was afraid that it had died.  Well, guess what!!  I got my first rose off of it TODAY!!!!  It's like it just popped out over night and there it was smiling at me this evening when I came home!!  I was so excited and I know my Daddy was excited too!!  Mom and I have always said that we figure God put Daddy in charge of all the gardens when he got to Heaven because of his passion for gardening!!  Guess I'm going to have to get my bud vases down so that I can have a little bit of Daddy in the house this summer!

Well, I've rambled long enough, now on to the card that I made for Jacob's teacher for Easter.  I always try to send her a little something each holiday to show my appreciation for all she does for my son.  I feel like teachers work really hard and don't get paid near enough for what they do.

For this card, I used the Celebrate With Flourish cartridge and cut the litte "Peep" at 2" and the Hoppy Easter at 2".  I popped the peep on the front for dimension.  I tied coordinating ribbon on the card and on the stem of the bloom flower.  This is just a simple card made very easily with the Celebrate With Flourish cartridge.  Sad to say, but this was the first time that I've used this cartridge but I think I'll be using it a lot in the future.

Thanks for visiting and for allowing me to ramble on about my Daddy!  I wish everyone could be blessed with such good parents like I have and I'm thankful that I can say that my Mom is also my best friend!!  Please come back and visit tomorrow and I promise not to be so long winded!!  Until another day, God Bless You!! Donna

Birthday Cards - Bugaboo Digital Stamp

Hi Everyone!!  I just spent the weekend with my little mama!  She came for a visit and we had a good time just doing nothing!!  That's why we didn't have any blog entries this weekend - we just enjoyed each other's company.

I made these two cards last week to be entered into four challenges each but I was so busy that I didn't have time to enter them.  Oh well, maybe next time.

I made these birthday cards using a digi from Bugaboo Digital Stamps for two of the volunteers that work in my office.

I colored both digis using the following Promarkers:

Leaves - Pear Green, Pine, Forest Green
Bugs - Poppy, Red, Cool Grey 5
Flowers - Gold, Sunflower, Tulip Yellow, Yellow, Pumpkin, Orange, Cool Grey 2 & 3

For this card, I used Design Studio to weld together two scalloped circles at 5.75" from the Lacy Labels cartridge.  I cut the second circle at 4.85 and the scalloped frame at 4.75.  Sentiment is Word generated.

For the second card, I cut two scalloped circles from the Lacy Labels cartridge at 3" and 2".  I used the swirl cuttlebug embossing folder on one of the circles.

My volunteers loved their cards.  They're such sweet people!!  Thanks for visiting with us today and we hope you'll come back again tomorrow.  Have a great Monday and until another day, God Bless You!!  Donna

Beautiful Baby Girl Gift Bag & Card - Wrap It Up

Hi Everyone - do you remember the other day when I told you I found the Wrap It Up Cartridge covered up by a bunch of "stuff?"  Well, I'm really glad that I found it.  I used it this weekend to decorate a gift bag and card for a couple that I know that are going to have a bouncing, baby girl in June.  They are going to name her Anabella and call her "Bella!"  Don't you just love that name?

I used Design Studio and the Wrap It Up cartridge to decorate the bag and card.  Here are the recipes:

Bag:

Carriage - 6" - popped
Sentiment Circle - freebie downloaded from Nettie's Cards

Card:

Use the card feature on the Wrap It Up cartridge to cut A2 Size
Baby Carriage - 2" - popped
Cut strip of pink cardstock and used Martha Stewart Heart Border Punch to create border
Inside - Wrap It Up Cartridge - It's A Girl - 3"
I decorated the Envelope with the hearts and border punch that I had left over.

I just love making something like this!!  Thanks for stopping by and please come back tomorrow!  Until another day - God Bless You!!  Donna

Midnight Madness #99 Challenge

Today's entry is for the Priscillastyles' Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge.  Priscilla has some lovely digital images and is always creating more.  I have another story behind why I chose this image.
The name of the image is Potting Flowers and can be found here.  It reminds me of my husband and his love of flowers.  He loved being outside better than anyone I have ever known.  He was always buying flowers and planting them.  He used to send me roses for our special occasions.  However, he wised up and planted rose bushes.  When they would bloom, he would cut them and bring them to me, so I had roses for more than just special occasions.  He was such a loving and gently soul and I miss all that special attention.

Card Materials:
A2 Card Base
Background Paper - I don't have the name of it.  It was one of those paper stacks Donna and I shared.
Digital Image- Potting Flowers from priscillastyles store.
Gold rhinestones
Promarkers Used:
Flowers - Sunflower, Gold, Soft Peach, Peach, Carnation Pink, Salmon, Lilac, Purple
Leaves - Lime, Forest Green
Shirt - Red, Berry
Skin - Satin, Coral
Gloves - Tan, Cocoa
Pants - Denim Blue
Pot - Ginger, Spice
Frame Background - Almond
Frame - Holly

Thank you for allowing me to share with you.  Donna and I love your visits and your comments.  Be sure to visit Priscillastyles Blog and join in our fun Midnight Madness fun.  God Bless You!!! Peggy

My Favorite NettieG Digital Image

Today starts a new challenge at NettieG's Digital Gems.  The requirements were for us to use our favorite digi and our favorite colors.  Nettie has just returned home after an 8 day stay in the hospital battling pneumonia.  Please pray for her recovery.  This is my card for the challenge but I would like to tell you why this is my favorite.

This is not the original of this image.  The original only has the elephant and is for sale in Nettie's shop.  When I saw it, it reminded me of Jacob, Donna's son.  I sent Nettie an email and told her this story.  Before Jacob was born, I crocheted him a blue blanket.  It has been an extension of him since he was a baby.  When he would get up in the mornings, he would wrap it around his neck and carry it until he woke up good.  When going to sleep, he had to have it.  He would entwine his fingers through it and of course he would have to have it in bed.  Donna told me I needed to  make another one because he was going to wear it out.  I did but he didn't like it.  He had to have the original for some reason.  When Nettie heard my story, she altered her image to include a blanket and sent it to me.   She drew the original when her son was a child.  Thank you, Nettie, for making this version for me.

Card Materials:
A2 Card Base
Background Paper - DCWV Denim Paper Stack
Digital Image - Boy with Toy from Nettie G's Digital Image Store
Sentiment from Create With TLC
Red Bling
Red Stickles
Promarkers Used:
Face/Skin - Satin, Pastel Pink
Hair - Almond, Mustard
Eyes - Blue Pearl
Shirt - Primrose, Soft Lime, Lemon
Blanket - Blue Pearl, Cornflower
Elephant - Cool Grey 1 and Cool Grey 3
Pants - Grey Green, Tea Green
Shoes - Tan, Cocoa

You Take The Cake - Wrap It Up Cartridge

Hi Everyone - have you ever bought a cartridge and forgot that you had it?  Well, that's what I did with the Wrap It Up cartridge.  I couldn't wait to get it and then when I got it, I put it in my scrap area, and it got covered up by "stuff."  I was working on my scrap area because as I told my mom, "I was getting swallowed whole by the all the mess!" and I rediscovered the cartridge.  Since I needed to make a birthday card, I thought I would use this cartridge.

I used the card option on the cartridge and cut the card at 6 1/2" and covered the cardbase with brown and blue cardstock and then added bling.  I cut a tag at 2 1/2" to use on the inside of the card.  I really like this cartridge and will definitely be using it a lot more since I found it again!!

Thanks for stopping by and we hope you'll come again.  Until another day, God Bless You!  Donna

Damask Decor Card

I recently purchased Damask Decor and Elegant Edges Cricut Cartridges at AC Moore when they had their $39.99 sale.  I picked them up for Donna, too.  I've been whetting her appetite by playing with them and sending her pictures.  Isn't that mean? LOL  She'll have to wait until we get together again.

Damask Decor has a card feature that I tried with this card.  I entered this card in the CDAC Embellishment Challenge.  The embellishment had to be buttons.  I personally don't think buttons fit this image but added them to the edges.

4th Grade Classroom Door - Spring

Hi Everyone - Using Design Studio and my Expression, I cut the decorations for Jacob's teacher's door for Spring.  You know that the schools are not allowed to mention anything about God so I wanted to come up with a saying that might possibly bring the Easter Holiday to mind!  To come up with the saying, I first thought about the Easter Holiday and the Resurrection of Christ and then I thought about how the flowers start blooming, the trees start budding, and all the animals are coming out from a long winter's nap!! I decided to use the saying,

"Spring brings new life to the world!"

Door Recipe:

Spring - Stretch Your Imagination
Other Words - welded using Design Studio and Cursive 101
Archway, Picket Fence, Flowers - Bloom
Border - Plantin, WIMG
Squirrels - can't remember

I think it turned out pretty!  Thanks for coming by and visiting - we hope you'll come back tomorrow!  If you see something you like, please let us know.  Until another day, God Bless You!  Donna

Okay, everybody, it's time for a little hopping today and tomorrow.  I'm so glad you decided to join us.  Leah is releasing a lot of digital images today and they are adorable.  If you came here from Heart Song Inspirations Blog, you're in the right place.  If not, click on Heart Song to go back to the beginning and follow the links in order.  You need to leave a comment on each blog in order to win the prize.  The prize is all of the digital images released today.  You can see them below.  At the end of this post is a list of all the Design Team who are paticipating today.  I have seen some of their creations and they are lovely.  So, please become a follower if you like and leave a comment below.

This is my card I made.  I combined two of the images, Bird Song and Bird Nest, to make it a little interesting.  I think they look pretty cute together.
