HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO OUR TROOPS & VETS

First let me say thank you to our troops and veterans.  Where would we be without you.  You have sacrificed so much for us and our country.  You deserve all the honor & tribute you receive.  Thank you from the bottom of our heart.

This was supposed to be my post for Eureka Stamps Design Team.  However, I have developed a case of the Shingles.  That's all I have to say to those of you who have had them.  I have been unable to do anything this past week and it's still not any better.  I am taking several meds the doctor has given me.  The meds have side effects so I'm kind of loopy in the head.  Donna has done a wonderful job of checking on me, bringing me food and doing anything I needed done.  My sister & her husband came for several days and took care of things. My son & daughter-in-law are coming next weekend.  I have such a wonderful family.  I am truly blessed.  I hope to be back crafting soon but until I get rid of this pain, I have to take it easy.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Thank you for your loyal support. God Bless You!!!! Peggy

CARDS MADE WITH ONE SHEET OF PAPER - Silhouette Cameo

Hi Everyone - Is anyone else out there addicted to Pinterest? Well, once you get on the site, it's hard to get off.  I found something interesting on there this week.  Instructions on how to make 8 cards using one sheet of 12 x 12 paper.  Just go to Pinterest and type in "cards made with one sheet of paper" and you'll be amazed.

So I found a piece of double sided paper and cut the paper apart as instructed.  Now I think this is a novel idea.  You can get blank card sets including envelopes at AC Moore for $1 and decorate them with one sheet of paper for 50 cents and voila, you have a very nice gift for little money.

Well, I decorated the blank cards with the shapes that I had cut out and adhered them to the cards.  Just one thing, I seem to have lost my creativity this year while making sure that my son gets through the 7th Grade.  He has just seven more days of school for this year and I'm just as excited about it being over as he is, if not more.

Since I didn't like them, I took them over to my Mom's house this morning.  Well, Mom being the "Great Creative One" found a way to make them oh so CUTE!!!  She used her Silhouette Cameo to print and cut out owls to add to the front of the cards.

The finished product is below:

Only thing missing is a sentiment.  I'm thinking maybe - "Guess hoot is thankful for you!" or "You're a HOOT!"

Well, thanks for stopping by today!  Make sure to come back tomorrow and Saturday, Mom has some BEAUTIFUL cards to post.  She's so creative!!!  Thanks for your comments and your visits.  Until another day, Donna (and Peggy since she helped too)!!

Butterfly Inspiration

I was looking on Pinterest today at a board called cards.  It belonged to someone who repinned one of my pins.  I was inspired by a side step card I saw there.  I tell you when I see other  people's creations, I am in awe.  I was thinking of trying to make one similar.  But when I got to looking through my paper for some to use, I came across a partial sheet from a paper pack by DCWV called Ciao Bella.  I decided to make a card from it.

Card Supplies:
5.5X7.5 card base - I made it this big in order to use most of this design.
Background paper - DCWV Ciao Bella Paper Stack
Large Butterflies - Indie Art Cricut Cartrdige - cut from same sheet of paper as the background.  I also used my Explore to cut them.
Small Butterflies - Cut with a Martha Stewart punch
Ribbon
Gems - for back of butterflies

I really pleased with this card.  I hope you like it.  Thank you for coming by today.  We love your comments and look forward to hearing from you.  God Bless You!!!! Peggy

Mother's Day Card for Donna

I wanted to make Donna a Mother's Day Card to let her know what a good mother I think she is.  Her love for Jacob shows in everything she does.  I looked at the Mother's Day projects in Cricut Design Space.  I found the "Drawn Floral Mother's Day Card" by Anna Rose and modified it to meet my needs.

The original file has Mom on the strip across the front.  The pattern on the card base is a file from the Paper Lace cartridge drawn with a silver metallic pen.  The rose is from Sweetheart cartridge. The Happy Mother's Day sentiment is from the Wild Card cartridge written with the Cristal Rose Cricut Pen.  I actually used the score tool, writing pen & blade for this card.  I love the ability to write my messages on an insert and adhere it to the inside of the card which is what I did with Donna's card.

Here is the card she made for me.  I'm hoping she will fill in the details.  I'm sure it is a Silhouette cut file.  She knows how much I love butterflies and how they symbolize new life, so how appropriate is it that my card would have a butterfly cutout.  I love it.

Hi Everyone  - I made this card for my mom using the Silhouette Cameo and a cut file from the Silhouette store.  The butterfly has become kind of a symbol for our family and our blog since my dad passed away four years ago.  Right after his death, we started to see yellow butterflies everywhere we were and before my dad's death, we hadn't seen the butterflies.  We all felt like it was Daddy saying HI and letting us know that he was okay.  You know how a caterpillar enters the cocoon and rejuvenates itself into a butterfly - we took seeing all the butterflies as my Daddy's earthly body being reborn into his Heavenly body.  Ever since then, we've loved butterflies so I thought I would make Mom's card with a butterfly.  Her favorite color is pink so after cutting out the card with the Silhouette, I cut a piece of pink paper to show through the wings of the butterfly, for the body of the butterfly, and the words. Mom loved her card.

I have the best Mom in the world - she's not only my Mom, but we are BFFs!  Yesterday, I went to Mom's house for breakfast and then we went to get a pedicure.  Here is a picture of our finished toes.

Mine are blue and Mom's are red.  We like to get some flowers put on our toes!!  We always have a blast together - love you Mom!!

Thank you for visiting with us today and please come back again.  We love you.  God Bless You!!!!  Peggy and Donna

Thank You - A2 Box Card - Silhouette Cameo

Hi Everyone - it's been a lonnnggggg time since I've been able to go in to my "HAPPY SPACE" and create something.  I had to dust everything off when I went in - no wonder I've been sneezing all day.

I had a birthday last week and it was wonderful!  My hubby and mom gave me some money because I'm saving up for one of the new Cricut Explore machines.  You know mom got one and she LOVES it so now she's given me the fever!!

I made the card today for my boss, Jean!  I've talked about how wonderful my boss is and she truly spoiled me rotten this year for my birthday.  So in appreciation for all that she did and gave me, I made this A2 Thank You box card.

You can download this file from the Silhouette store for $1.99, pick out your paper, load the mat and cut - then it's just a matter of assembling the parts together.  I think Jean will like it.

Thank you for stopping by today - Mom and I appreciate your visits and your comments.  Until another day, God bless you!  Donna

Beccy's Place Guest Designer Card - Cruising

This is my second Monday for posting my Guest Designer cards for Beccy's Place.  The image set for this card is 'Cruising'. Do you remember cruising as a teen?  I do.  This set has some cool cars & sentiments.   Here is a link to all the designers cards using this set.
I chose the Volkswagen to work with.  The reason I did was my son had a blue Volkswagen as his first car when he was a teenager.  One time it was in the shop being worked on and he was driving our VW, had a wreck and totaled it.  Fortunately, he wasn't hurt (my daughter said he was too hard headed to get hurt) but we were without a car & he had his.  The irony.

Card Supplies:
A2 Card Base
Back ground paper - DCWV Blossom Song Paper Stack
Image - Volswagen from the 'Cruising Set' by Beccy Muir
Brads - Kay&Co. Metal Art Brads
Promarker's used to color image:
Pastel Blue, Denim, Cool Gray 2,3, 5

Thank you for visiting with me today.  Card 3 will be up next Monday.  God Bless You!!!  Peggy
