Two Masculine Birthday Cards

I have two brothers and their birthdays are in January.  I needed some inspiration so I got on Pinterest to see if I could find some masculine cards.  I've never spent a lot of time on Pinterest but I did that day.  It is a wonderful resource to find inspiration and to display your creations.  This is my take on a couple of cards I saw that day.  I hope my brothers will appreciate them.

I embossed both card bases with the Cuttlebug Birthday Embossing Folder.  The paper is Blue Awning by K & Co.
I used the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge for the Label on this one, then inked everything with Outdoor Denim Ink by Close To My Heart.
On this one, I used the Cricut Artiste Cartridge for the flags.  The label & sentiment was made with the Silhouette Cameo.  I love how you can add your sentiment to a label, then print and cut it.  Everything was inked with a chestnut colored ink.

Now if you know anything about me, you know that I have a hard time with masculine cards.   So much so that I sent my grandson in CA a store bought card for his birthday in November thinking it doesn't matter to him.  When he was home for Christmas he let me know how disappointed he was.  He said he had saved all my handmade cards through the years and then I send him a store bought one.  I promised I would do that again.  OOOPS!!

Thank you for visiting with us.  God Bless You!!!! Peggy

Card Inspired by Enfys Cashmore

Enfys Cashmore of Going Buggy is an amazing designer.  She has been posting projects using votive candle borders she found at their Hobbycraft store in the UK.  They are beautiful.  I tried to find them online but could only find them at the Hobbycraft site.  Unfortunately, they do not ship internationally.  So I reminded myself I have LOTS of Cricut cartridges that I could use to make a border.  I used Enfys' card as my inspiration.  Her's is gorgeous but I like the way mine turned out too.  If you click on the Going Buggy, you can see her card.
 Card Recipe:
A2 Card Base
Anna Griffin Cuttlebug Embossing Folder - emboss the front of the card.
Border - Paper Lace Cricut Cartridge
Leafy Branch - Artiste Cricut Cartridge
Flower - Mother's Day Bouquet Cricut Cartridge. Flower cut at 2" to 3.5" increasing .25 in. for each layer.  I used a page from the DCWV French Country paper stack.

Artiste/Elegant Edges Cupcake Holder

Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!  I've been getting ready to help with my friend's shower.  We are having cupcakes at the shower and the other day I was in the deepest, darkest part of my walk-in closet (that you can't walk in) and I found a cupcake holder that I had bought a LONG time ago at Big Lots for $1.00.  Here's what it was supposed to look like:

And here's what it looked like after I altered it.  I wanted it to match the color theme of the shower so I covered each layer with pink and orange cardstock.

Using Artiste, I cut a doily for each layer at 10 3/4", 9", and 7".  I adhered all the layers to the tops of each layer.

Using Elegant Edges, I cut multiple borders for the trim to go around the layers.  I glued these on using Zip glue.  I must say that glue has a very strong odor but it will glue anything!!

Here is the finished product.  Now all we have to do is put the cupcakes on it Thursday night.

Thank you for stopping by today!  We appreciate your visits and your comments.  Until another day, God Bless You!!  Donna

Art Philosophy Birthday Card

My beautiful daughter-in-law's birthday is Friday.  She is not a froo froo girl like me and she loves blue & brown.  I used Art Philosophy and the Close To My Heart "Pemberley Workshop on the Go" to make this card.

Using the card feature on Art Philosophy I cut this card at 5 in.  The center label was cut at 4" and the center label with the sentiment was cut at 1.5".  The blue accent strip is 1" wide.  All the paper, the wooden embellishments and the stamped sentiment are from the Pemberley Workshop on the Go. This packet has some beautiful paper.  This is a picture of the stamp set.

The inside sentiment is from the Cricut Artiste Collection.

Here is a picture of this stamp set.

Thank you for visiting with us today.  I hope you enjoyed the wreaths Donna and I posted yesterday.  We had fun working together on them.  Donna has been a regular visitor to Pinterest so we may be trying something else.  LOL  God Bless You!!!! Peggy

THANKS - Artiste Cartridge - LOVE IT!!!

Hi Everyone!

Well, I have to apologize first because my project today is made using the wonderful, outstanding, and incredible Artiste Cartridge again.  Can you tell that I LOVE IT????

I wanted to make a thank you card for someone but then I decided to make a little "thank you gift!"  This box is on the Artiste Cartridge and I wanted to make it 4" big so I cut out four of the sides of the box at 1" each and glued two together - one set of two for the top and one set of for the bottom.  I then cut the bottom and top of the box out at 3".

I then glued one set of sides on the bottom and the other set of sides on the top.  I cut the blue patterned paper at 3" and covered the top.  The next blue patterned papers were cut at 2 1/2" and 2".  The label and "thanks" were also cut from the Artiste cartridge and popped on the very top.

I then cut strips of blue patterned paper and black paper in 1" x 3" strips and covered Hershey's nuggets to fill the box.

Then I placed the lide on top and tied it with a bow.

Jean loved her gift and was even willing to share her candy.  This project was so easy and only took about an hour to make (given the interruptions I had from my son and husband while I was working).  Easy Peazy!!!

Thank you for stopping by today.  We appreciate your visits and your comments.  If you are interested in purchasing the Artiste Cartridge, keep reading for a GREAT deal.

Until another day, God Bless You!!  Donna

Artiste B/D Card - Page 57

This card could be used for almost any occasion but I'm using it for a birthday card for one of my sisters-in-law.  The Artiste cartridge makes it so easy to create a card.

I used the card feature on page 57 and cut the card at 5".  All the paper on this card is from the Close To My Heart "Roxie" Paper Pack.  I'm not sure if it's available anymore.  Then I cut another card at 4" from a two sided piece of paper.  I cut it in 2, placed one half on the front, turned over the other half and placed it on the inside for the sentiment.  I cut Accent 3 on page 44 at 3" from a coordinating paper, placed portions of it on the front, then added some flowers and gems.

The inside sentiment is from CTMH Acrylix Stamp Set "Card Chatter-Birthday".  I love this set.

Thank you for coming by today.  If you want to purchase any of the items used in this card, just click on the link.  I really appreciate all your purchases.  Close To My Heart has outstanding products.  God Bless YOU!!!  Peggy

I HAD AN IDEA - ARTISTE, GEORGE, PINTEREST

Hi Everyone - I know I've said it before but I'll have to say it again!  I'm addicted to Pinterest.  But really, that's a good thing!  Part of the project I made today came from something that I saw on Pinterest.  It was instructions to create a flower pillow where you cut circles out of felt and fold them in half. This link will take you to a picture of the pillow:  http://pinterest.com/pin/30540103692586839/

I liked the looks of it so I thought I could do the same thing with paper!  Voila!

Using George, I cut a 3 1/2" circle out of white cardstock.  I then used a piece of two sided cardstock to cut out a page of 1 1/4" circles.  I then folded the circles in half alternating between the two sides.  Starting on the outside of the circle, I glued the folded circles until the whole 3 1/2" circle was covered.

This is the finished circle.  When I started covering the circle, I didn't know how I was going to use it.  Then I thought of my new favorite cartridge, Artiste!!!

I created the box below cut at 3 1/4".  Simply pushed the buttons and glued the top together.  I created the bottom and found that the way the box is cut - the sides are not able to be glued together.  With my left over circles, I attached one at each angle - you can kinda see that in this photo if you look closely.

Then I added ribbon around the top, tied a bow, and popped the circle on top.

This is the finished project.  Mom has a new neighbor - she said she wanted the box to put cookies in as a "welcome to the neighborhood" gift.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  We appreciate your visits and your comments.  If you would like to order the Artiste Gift set, follow this link to order.  The kit includes the Artiste cartridge, three sets of stamps, and 3 pages of chipboard cut outs for $99 - it is Sooooooooo worth the money!!

THANKS - Artiste Cartridge (LOVE IT!)

Hi Everyone!

Well, let me say it - I LOOOOVVVEEEEEE the new Artiste Cartridge.  I don't believe that Provocraft has ever made a cartridge with so many options, projects, cards, etc. on it!!  Did I say I LOOOOVEEEE it????

I made the card below just by choosing the card option at 5" and hit cut.  Notice the little lip that holds the card together.

I added patterned paper to the front.  I then made a band with the paper that I left over after I cut out the card.  Then I chose the label at 4" and then cut one out of patterned paper at 3 1/2".

I chose the bow and simply hit cut again!!  I held the bow together with a brad.

Here is the card assembled.  LOVE IIITTTTT not only because I think it's pretty but because it was sooo easy!!!  You will be seeing LOTS of posts using this cartridge.

You can purchase this cartridge for $99 from Mom who is a Close To My Heart consultant.  With that cartridge you get three sets of stamps that coordinate with cuts on the cartridge and three sheets of cardboard cuts that coordinate with the stamps and cartridge.  Just follow this link if you're interested in purchasing it.

We thank you for shopping by today and we hope you'll come back tomorrow.  We appreciate your visits and your comments.  Until another day, God Bless You!  Donna

Word of Mouth Encouragement Card

One of the neighbor ladies I have met lost her husband 1 1/2 years ago.  She is still having a hard time.  My heart goes out to her because I can truly say I know what she's going through.  I don't think you ever get over it.  You just have to rely on God.

Anyway, I was thinking about her this morning and thought a card might let her know I care and I'm here for her.  I recently purchased the "Word of Mouth" Imagine cartridge, so I decided to use it.  This cut emphasizes Hope.

Card Recipe:
A2 Card Base
Hope Cut from Word of Mouth Imagine Cartridge - cut at 4 inches and layers.
Brown cardstock - cut at 4"X 5.25"
Ribbon

This is the inside of the card.  I was trying to find cardstock to match the front of the card when it occurred to me to use the colors on the Imagine Cartridge.  DUH!!  I chose an accent from the Artiste cartridge, page 65 - cut one at 4" and the other at 3.75".  I printed my sentiment on off-white cardstock and placed it on the labels.

Thank you for your visits.  Donna & I appreciate them.  You're why we do this.  God Bless You!!!  Peggy

CTMH Artiste Cartridge - I Finally Got It!!!!!

I finally got my Close To My Heart Exclusive Cartridge Artiste.  It is one fantastic cartridge with 700 images and projects on it.  It came this afternoon and my biggest problem was trying to decide what to make.  Donna also got it so expect some projects coming up.  I finally decided to make the card on page 53.  If you like the looks of the project, you can order this cartridge by clicking on the link above.  It comes with 3 stamp sets and 3 pages of elements to use with this cartridge.

The card was cut from KandCo. Botanical Paper Stack.  The band, bird and flowers were cut from the same paper. I popped the bird and the flowers with dimensional adhesives.  Here are some close ups.

This picture shows the card and the band separate.
This shows the inside.  The label used is from page 36.
Thank you for visiting with us today.  We so appreciate you.  I hope your weekend is wonderful.  God Bless You!!!! Peggy
