For Our Little Fireman

I have a great nephew, Jacob (are you supposed to call them great nephews or grand nephews) who loves playing policeman and fireman.  My brother, who is his Papa, bought him a police uniform and Jacob wore it until it was too small.  Then he bought him a fireman's uniform.  I think Jacob still tries to get in the  police uniform.  Anyway, when I saw this little digi I knew it would be the perfect card for him.  I'm going to show you the card then tell you about the different pieces I used to make it.

The background is a scrap piece of paper I used under some leaves I was inking.  I looked at it in a whole new light with the little fireman on.  I think it looks like fire.
The digi is a Sherry Baldi image.  He's called the Fireman.  I colored him with Promarkers.  If you would like to know which colors, leave me a message and I will let you know.
The little dog I found in Cricut Design Space.  He's from the Create A Critter cartridge.  You can cut his individual layers but I flattened him, then print and cut him.  I love that feature of the Explore.  I can't seem to find time to play with it as much as I would like.

The Award is also found in Cricut Design Space from the Plantin Cartridge.  I opened it and created text on it, attached the text to the award, then the Explore wrote the message and cut the award.  I was quite pleased I figured out how to do that.  Love that part of it too.  This is the inside of the card.
I'm going to mail Jacob his card tomorrow.  I can't wait to hear what he has to say about it.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Please come back tomorrow for our Paper A La Mode Challenge at The Outlaws.  I'll be looking for you.  God Bless You!!!!  Peggy

WHHOOOO DO WE LOVE?? MAMAW - Create a Critter

Hi Everyone - LONNNGGGGGG time, Nooooooo Post!!

I feel like I have missed the last three months of my life sequestered in my house.  I had surgery in December, went back to work at the end of January, worked for three weeks, caught the flu, out of work for a week, then Jacob caught the flu from me, then out another week of work taking care of him!!!!!  With that said, I'm glad to be back in the world of crafting!

I had the idea of this gift bag in my head for a few days.  I went to Michael's a few days ago and found these cute little owl cards, tablet, and journal in the $1.00 section.  YES, I said the $1.00 section.

When I saw these, I thought I would buy a little gift from Jacob and Buttons to Mamaw.  So I wanted to make a gift bag to match the owl card.

Using the Create a Critter cartridge, I cut out the different layers of the owl from page 25 at 4 1/4".  It was such as easy project to make but I think it really turned out cute.

I took this over to Mamaw on Monday as a little surprise.  She loved it especially since it was from Jacob and Buttons.

Thank you for stopping by today!  We appreciate your visits and your comments.  Until another day, God bless you!!  Donna

I plan to enter this project in all these challenges.

Welcome To The Neighborhood

I have a new neighbor who just moved into the townhouse on the other end of mine.  Guess what, her name is Peggy also.  They have named me Peggy 1 and her Peggy 2.  My plan to welcome her was to make her a card and take her some pastries.  I went to the grocery store this morning and bought the pastries, along with some other things, but the pastries didn't make it home.  Don't know what happened to those little boogers.  Now I've got to go back in the morning and see if they can tell me what happened to them.  I did manage to get her card made though.  I hope she will like it.

Card Recipe:
A2 card base
Handy Man Lite Cricut Cartridge - the house & Welcome To the Neighborhood.  I used Cricut Craft Room and cut it at 2 in.
Ribbons & Rosettes Cartridge  - the grass cut at 1.5X6"
Create A Critter - the Sun cut at 1.2"
Flowers are from a $1 stamp I got at Michael's.  I stamped them in Olive and colored them with gel pens.
I used Pebbles Chalk to color the sky trying to make a cloud.
Added the stitching to make the wording more distinctive.

I already had the frame cut out from something else I made so I put it on the inside.

Thank you for visiting today and please come back tomorrow.  God Bless You !!!!  Peggy

Sweet Dreams Baby Book - LOTS OF CRICUT

You know there's nothing like a newborn baby to make you smile!  Jacob's teacher, Ms. Pennington, is expecting her first grandchild this week so I decided I would make her a brag book for some of her photos.  I don't know about you but I've never met a grandmother yet that didn't have plenty of pictures of their grandchildren to show you.

For this project, I used LOTS of Cricut Cartridges.  I found a Rusty Pickle Chipboard Album that I bought at one of the CKC conventions that Mom and I attended.  I used the Basic Grey Oh Boy Collection to cover the chipboard with 6 x 6 1/2 pieces.

Book Recipe

COVER:Frame - I used Design Studio to make the frame using the George Cartridge.  I welded two squares together then welded stars inside the frame.
Used Create A Critter to cut:
Sheep - 2 1/2"
Sweet Dreams - 1 1/2"
Clouds - 1 1/2", 3/4"
Stars - 1 1/4"
Moon - 1 1/4"

Popped the sheep and one of the clouds to add dimension.

PAGES 2 AND 3

Baby Blessings - cut at 1.5 x 3.8" with Wild Card and Design Studio
Heart Border - Martha Stewart Heart Lace Punch
Train - 1 3/4" - Create a Critter

PAGES 4 AND 5

Rocket - 6" (page), 4" (tag) - Just Because Cards Cartridge
Wagon - 4 1/2" - Just Because Cards Cartridge

PAGES 6 AND 7

Bear - 2 1/2" - Doodlecharms
Bottle Borders - 1" and 2" - Doodlecharms

PAGES 8 and 9

Giraffe - 4" - Create A Critter
Lion - 2" - Create A Critter

PAGES 10 AND 11

Heaven Sent - 1 1/4" - Stamping
Rattle - 1 1/4" Stamping

I made pockets out of the mats where the pictures will be placed on several of the pages and inserted tags so that Ms. Pennington will have a place to make journal entries.

GIFT BAG

Sheep - 6" - Create A Critter

I really enjoyed making this book and I hope Jacob's teacher will like it.

Thanks for stopping by today and we hope that you've found some inspiration.  If you see something you like, please let us know.  Until another day, God Bless You!!  Donna

LUCKY EWE!!

Hi Everyone - I decided I would try something new when I received this new digi from Laurie at Doodle Pantry Digi Stamps.  I decided that I would make something that would hold candy.

I used Design Studio and the cartridges George and Create A Critter to cut the horseshoe shape  at 6 x 7.  I then cut 2 strips of blue paper, scored it at 3/4 inch on both sides.  I then glue the strip of blue paper between the two horseshoe forms.

I then cut the horseshoe out again using the Digi Paper designed by Laurie Wilson at Doodle Pantry and adhered it to the front of the candy holder.  I then colored the sheep sitting on a horseshoe with the following Promarkers:

Horseshoe:  Sunflower, Gold
Sheep:  Blush, Satin, Pale Pink, Cool Grey 2, Cool Grey 3

I then popped the digi.  The sentiment is a digi stamp from Doodle Pantry.

Thanks for visiting and we hope you send your friends our way!  Have a good Sunday.  Make sure you visit the Doodle Pantry website - you'll be glad you did!!  Until another day,  God Bless You!  Donna

4th Grade Classroom Door - Every Child Is A Gift

Hi Everyone - I worked yesterday decorating Jacob's teacher's door for Christmas. I made the tag with Very Merry Tags and wrote "Every Child Is A Gift" on it. I cut the Christmas tree on the 24" mat using the Very Merry Tags Christmas Tree. I cut three bows using Tie The Knot and glued them together to make the bow look 3D. I then cut different size presents from Very Merry Tags, Create A Critter, Sweet Treats. I wrote all the names of the children on the presents and made one for Ms. Pennington too. Can you guess who has the biggest present under the tree?

Ms. Pennington is going to put a big bow on the door beside the tag. That'll complete the look. Thanks for visiting our blog. We hope you find some inspiration. Until another day, God Bless You!! Donna

Something to Celebrate - Doodle Pantry Digi

I just love this little bird from Doodle Pantry. I decided to enter him in the sketch challenge over at Taylored Expressions this week.

I cut the card base to 6" x 12" and folded it in half. I cut a scalloped square with the Cindy Loo cartridge at 6". The plaid paper was cut at 2 1/2" x 4 1/4". The green embossed paper was cut at 4" x 4". I cut the bird out with the oval shape cutter by Fiskars and then cut another oval using Plantin Schoolbook at 2.75" x 3.75". I added dimension by using pop dots under the bird.

On the inside, I cut another 6" x 12" piece of cardstock in order to pop up the Happy Birthday which was cut from the Create A Critter cartridge. I made four 3" cuts and folded them out then attached the Happy Birthday.

Like I said, I just love this little bird. He makes me smile every time I see him!! I hope you have a good day and thank you for visiting with us. Until another day, God Bless! Donna

My First Easel Card

I have seen so many easel cards on blogs and the Cricut Message Board, I thought I would like to make one.  The card was easy enough to put together but my A type personality kicked in when trying to decide how to decorate it.  I can spend a huge amount of time trying to decide what paper, embellishments, etc.  Any suggestions on how to cure this malady?  LOL
I decided to use Create a Critter since I have never used it.  I love butterflies so I chose the butterfly(page 64) and the flowers(page 47) to add cheer to my card.  They are adorable.  The paper is DCWV Citrus.  I added some small butterflies punched with an EK Success punch.

I wasn't sure about decorating the panel behind the easel but I chose to add "Wish you a"  and a few embellishments to lead into my inside message of "perfect day."
Thank you for letting me ramble about this card today.  Create a Critter is a very cute cartridge.  Thanks for visiting.  God bless you!! Peggy

4th Grade Classroom Door - Thanksgiving

Hi Everyone - I put up the November door decoration for Jacob's classroom yesterday . His teacher loved it. The theme this month was Thanksgiving of course!! I used a LOT of Cricut cartridges on this door but I think it turned out pretty good.

Words - Plantin
Leaves and Trees - Stretch Your Imagination
Wheelbarrow - Walk In My Garden
Pumpkins - Paper Dolls and Create A Critter
Fence - Paper Dolls
Border - Plantin and Stretch Your Imagination
Grass - Plantin

An update on the Door Decoration Contest from last month - well, I'm sorry to say that my door didn't win. But it only lost by one vote so that's pretty good!! Maybe next time!!

Thanks for visiting!! If you're a follower, please make sure that you're entered in the contest for the blog candy. We so appreciate everyone that visits with us each day. Until another day, God Bless!! Donna

Update on Christopher and Stephanie

We heard from a radio station reporting on the conditions, everyone at the resort are okay.  They have water, food and electricity from a generator.  It was beautiful there today and everyone was lying on the beach waiting until they can get to the airport.  Hopefully they will get home this weekend.  Thanks for your prayers.  Peggy

Don't Go Bananas

Happy Sunday Everyone!!  I made this card using the Create A Critter Cartridge for a friend of mine.  It was part of a set of four cards.  The banana was cut at 2".

I thought the sentiment was cute because sometimes I feel this way about my birthday.  Well, I'm keeping this short and sweet today because my Mom is here visiting and we're off to play in the "Happy Space".  Hopefully, we'll have some pretty creations to share with you this week.  Have a good day and we hope you'll visit again soon!!  Until another day, God Bless!  Donna

6 Cartridge Card

From what I read on other blogs and on the Cricut Message Board, we all have several cartridges we have not used.  I made this card for the Bitten By The Bug 2 Challenge this week.  I used 6 cartridges, some of which I had never used before.

The challenge was to create a card using the sewing machine on the Heritage cartridge.  The paper I used is from the My Mind's Eye Out & About paper stack.  The cartridges and card elements are as follows:

Sewing Machine - Heritage - Cut at 3"X1.75" (Never used)
Flourish - French Manor  - I did use FM 1 time before
Labels - Stamping
The Word SEW - Wall Decor - (Never Used)
The Word Sweet - Create-A-Critter (Never Used)
Buttons - Paisley (Never Used)

I guess I should hang my head in shame for having cartridges I've never used.  I like the way this card turned out.  I hope you will be inspired to use your unused cartridges.

Thank you for dropping by today.  God Bless You..Peggy

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #124

Peggy Speaking:
Last Friday on Taylored Expressions a challenge was posted. You can see the sketch we were to use if you click on this link. Donna and I have not entered too many of these but we decided to try this one since we had so many cards we needed to do. This is my entry.

This card is for my grandson's fiance. There is a bridal shower for her this Saturday, August 21. He bowed the knee and popped the big question to her in our kitchen on Thanksgiving last year. It was so special. He said he wanted his Papaw to know he was getting married. I am so thankful Ben got to see him propose. It meant the world to us.

I used several cartridges to make this card. The background strips are from Tie The Knot - the card feature. I cut them thin so they look like labels. The scallop circles are from Mini-Monograms. Bridal Shower and the Umbrella are from Sweethearts. I put pop dots between the two circles and then pop dotted on the card too. It gives them more dimension. I then added lace, ribbon and pearl to the card and stickles to the cutouts in the background strips. I can't wait to give this to Stephanie. I hope she likes it as much as I had fun making it.  I have a cut file for the card details if anyone would like it.

Donna Speaking:
Now it's time for my card using this challenge as inspiration. It's funny how different mine and Mom's styles are sometimes. I told her the other day that she was froo-froo and I was frolic!!
For this challenge, I used paper that I printed from the Papercraft Inspirations website. I covered the base of the card and then cut three 2" wide strips of a coordinating paper. I used the Cindy Loo cartridge to cut the scalloped circles 1 3/4" and the round circles 1 1/2". I then used the (yes, you guessed it) Create a Critter cartridge to cut the penquins at 1 1/4". I made sure that her scarf matched the purple in the paper because we would not want her to be out of fashion - HA!! I pop-dotted the round circle to add dimension. I then cut a purple piece and used the snowflake Martha Stewart punch, cut a blue strip of paper, added ribbon, and bling. The sentiment is from a stamp set that I bought at Walmart. I don't know about you but it's been so hot around here that I'm ready for some snow!!

Peggy & Donna:

We hope you find inspiration from these cards. It's amazing how many different interpretations you can get from a sketch. It stretches you and causes you to grow to try new things. Be sure to visit Taylored Expressions through the link above to see the Design Team's ideas.

Thank you for visiting our blog. We can't say enough how much we enjoy your comments and how honored we are that you would choose to follow us. God Bless YOU! Peggy Until Another Day, God Bless, Donna

New Baby Card

Hi Everyone - my cousin, Angie, (who is younger than me!) became a Grandmother last week. Her daughter, Rachel, had a bouncing baby boy that she, and her husband, Brian, named Cain! They decorated their nursery in a jungle theme so I thought this card would fit right in with the theme.

Once again, I made this card from my scrap stash (YEA!). The background paper is from the DCWV stack, Safari Kids, that I purchased at Big Lots. I used my newest favorite Cricut cartridge, Create a Critter, and cut the monkeys at 2 1/4" and 2". The vine was cut at 2 1/4". I pop dotted the monkey and added bling for a little sparkle!

I created the border on the inside of the card using a Martha Stewart punch. I hope Rachel likes her card. She's a follower of our blog so she may see it here before it actually reaches her house.

Thanks for visiting and thanks for following our blog. Mom and I are honored that you would want to visit with us!! Take care and please send your friends for a visit!! Until another day, God bless! Donna

You're toad-ally fabulous!

Hey Everyone - Can you guess what the postman brought to me today? Something that I've been wanting for a long time. I received the "Create A Critter" cartridge that I ordered from Cricut Machine. I really love all the images on this cartridges. They're all so cute!

I used all scraps to make this card. The card base was cut out of kraft paper at 6 1/4" x 10". The male frog was cut at 3 1/4" and the female frog was cut at 2". The frog is located on page 24 of the booklet. I used the flower located on page 26 of the booklet for the bow in the female's hair.

I think they make a really cute couple. This would make a cute Anniversary Card. Maybe I'll give it to my hubby on our next anniversary.  Until another day, God bless.  Donna
