Crafty Cardmakers - Autumn

Last week we were struggling through Hurricane Irrma, although it wasn't bad here.  My heart goes out to those affected by this terrible storm. The temperatures certainly cooled a lot and it felt like Fall.  I'm not sure if I'm ready for weather that cool just yet.  

This week at Crafty Cardmakers our theme is Autumn.  So I pulled out some fall colored cardstock and came up with this card.

Card Supplies:
Harvest Blessings - this is a Cricut Design Space file.  I cut it from 2 different rust colored pieces of cardstock.
Anna Griffin Summer/Fall embossing folders - The 6" square card base was embossed with one of the folders and the matching border folder.
Stickles - gold was applied to the "Blessings"


I like how this turned out.  The hardest part was getting the two layers away from the cardstock without tearing them up.

    DS4J New Release Sunday-Ikebana

    It's new release day at Digistamps4Joy again. These are now available in the DS4J Store.  Be sure to check out the blog to see the inspiration from the Design Team.  The digi I chose for my card is "Ikebana", an image drawn by JenLee. Ikebana is Japanese Flower Art.

    Blue China Aperature Card

    I have been playing around with the new Design Space 3.  I've been trying to create some DS3 files for different card folds.  Julie Flanagan of the MTC Group on Yahoo has created several card files and shared them with the group.  In addition to MTC files, she saves them as svg files also.  That makes it possible for those of us who have the Cricut Explore to upload them into DS and cut them. I have found that usually these files have perforated lines for score lines, so I change them to a DS score line.  One of the files I created was an Aperature Card. The link is here.

    Anna Griffin flowers - I cut one of the smaller flowers off and put it behind the cut out. 
    Lace Ribbon

    Sunflower Birthday Card

    You can never have too many  birthday cards so I always try to keep some on hand.  This one I used Cricut Design Space to create. 


    Card Supplies:
    5X7 Card Base
    Background - Butterfly background from an Anna Griffin cartridge
    Flowers - layered flowers.  This image is also from a digital cartridge by Anna Griffin, "Vintage Flowers".  You can print then cut this image with Cricut Design Studio.

    Playing Around With Print Then Cut

    I've been testing the Print Then Cut feature in Cricut Design Space. If you don't like cutting all the layers of an image, you can flatten it, print it on your printer and cut it on your Explore machine.  I LOVE this feature.  For these cards I was thinking Spring.  I searched in Design Space for flower and found a generous amount of flowers I could use for printing then cutting.  They cut like a dream.

    I took the images, added some backgrounds & labels and put them on some Hot Buy cards from Michaels.  I think these cards would be good for our next Craft Day at the Nursing Home where I volunteer.  Tell me your opinion.

    Crafty Cardmakers Challenge-Go Green

    A new challenge starts today at Crafty Cardmakers.  The theme is Go Green.  We want to see a lot of green on your projects, use up some of your stash, or even make a St. Patrick's Day card.  Let's see your creations.  I decided to make my first Christmas card of 2017.


    This card is a Make It Now project from Cricut Design Space.  It is called "Christmas Bow Card and Envelope".  The images are from Anna Griffin's Christmas Cards and Embellishments cartridge.  There is actually a ribbon and bow to cut out but I thought a real ribbon and bow looked better.

    Watercolor Floral Card by Kim Byers

    I don't know how many of you use Cricut Design Space Make It Now Projects for a quick card or in need of some inspiration.  There are some really pretty projects in the MIN section.  Here is one I decided to make.  It is called Watercolor Floral Card and it was designed by Kim Byers.  It features Print then Cut watercolor flowers and a scalloped card.  It was easy to make and I will send it to someone.

    Crafty Cardmakers Challenge - Add Some Texture

    We start a new challenge today at Crafty Cardmakers.  The theme for the next two weeks is Add Some Texture to your project.  This can be a lot of fun.  If you have some texture paste or multi-media products, let's see your creations.  Or you can do as I did, add texture by embossing.
    The layout for this card is in Cricut Design Space Access.  This is one of my favorite card layouts.  I used an AG Cuttlebug folder on both the frame and the layer behind it.  I tried to line them up on the embossing folder so that the design carried over to the frame.  I added some multi-layered flowers and foil accented flourishes.  It's ready for a sentiment.  This card can be used for all kind of occasions.

    Valentine Card for Nursing Home Crafts

    I got pretty good news from the surgeon yesterday.  First of all he explained in detail how my by-pass surgery was performed.  Then he explained how one of the by-passes can fail.  He said he felt like my heart was getting sufficient blood so there is nothing to do at this time.  I do have a 50 - 60% blockage in another artery and if it gets worse then they will stent it later.  Thank you to all those who prayed for me.  God is good.

    Today I have been working on some card kits for the local NHC nursing home.  They have craft day every month and sometimes we make cards.  I've cut all the pieces for the cards and am going to make individual packs for each card.  I've put together one so they will have an example to go by..

    4X5.5" card base embossed with Anna Griffin "Paisley Dance" embossing folder
    The embellishments are designs from the Cricut Design Space Access.  I flattened the sentiment, then print and cut it.

    I hope the residents will like this Valentine.  They always appreciate anything you do for them.

    Happy Birthday, Jacob

    Today is new release Sunday at Digistamps4Joy. It's not my team's time to post but I decided to used this new release to make my grandson a birthday card.  I hope he will forgive me for using an image with some flowers on it.  His birthday is the 16th and he will be 16.  My, how time flies.

    Card Supplies:
    A2 Card Base
    Image - January Word by Jen Lee of DS4J.  This happens to be a pre-coloured image.  You can get it in black and white so you can color it yourself.  
    Happy Birthday and 16 are images from Cricut Design Space that I flattened, then printed them and cut.  I love that feature.
    Chalk to shadow the word January.

    Digistamps4Joy Challenge Mid-month post

    Design team B always posts mid-month for the DS4J Challenge. January's challenge is Anything Goes with a twist of "All About Love".  My card is all about my little Max.  I asked Margy Kieser, the artist of this image to draw a Maltese because I couldn't find one that I liked.  So she drew these two adorable digistamps.  I think the little boy looks just like my Max.  The female's name is Bella.  My neighbor has a dog that Max plays with.  Her name is Bella so I made a valentine for Max to give her

    Snowmen Easel Card

    I got an email from My Scrap Chicks.  It had this adorable card made from one of their svg files.  It was so cute I bought the file and made this card.  The hardest part of the whole process was choosing what paper to use.  That always takes me longer than anything.  Anyone else like that?

    I uploaded the svg into Cricut Design Space and cut it out.  The sentiment doesn't come with the card so I had to insert the text for my Explore to write it.  I shaded the snowmen with chalk and added some to the cheeks.  I think this little card would bring cheer to whoever receives it.

    Mod Squad Challenge-Halloween Fun

    We began a new  Mod Squad Challenge this week. Angie Cimbalo and I are the hosts.  "Halloween Fun" is the theme.  All you have to do is make a fun project with Halloween on it.  As usual we have 2 lovely sponsors, KatScrappiness and Sparkle n Sprinkle,  along with 2 great prizes.  So you will want to enter.  You may enter as many as 3 times.

    This is my card.  I have to tell you this card was outside my comfort zone.  I don't normally make Halloween cards but thought I would give it a go.

    Jingle Bells Card

    I have another card for you today from the AG Christmas Cards 2 cartridge.  You notice the card and the embellishment have the same patterns.  However, I did not cut all the layers for the card.  I chose each layer in Cricut Design Space, changed them from a cut file to a print file.  The file comes into DS grouped with an envelope.  I didn't make the envelope.  I ungrouped the file, then deleted the envelope.  I then highlighted the card and "attached" it together.  This made it a print then cut file.  If I had not attached the layers together, DS would have printed all the layers.

    I did cut all the layers for the center bells embellishment and attached it with foam adhesive.


    This cartridge has so many pretty cards & embellishments on it.  I think it was worth the investment.  It's on HSN and it comes with a $10 digital credit on Cricut.com.

    Christmas Card for Only Christmas Cards/Projects Group

    This is another Christmas card for the FaceBook Group, OnlChristmas Cards/Projects.  


    This card is a Make It Now project in Cricut Design Space.  The top one I used the Cut then Print feature. flattened the image, printed it and cut it out.  It was a little too pale and needed some dimension so I added some shading with my Promarkers.  I like how it turned out.

    The second one is cut using all the layers in the file.  I used the new Cricut IOS App on my Ipad.  It has the Snap Mat feature that allows you to put your scrap pieces on your mat, take a picture of it, arrange the layers on the scrap pieces and then cut them all out at once.  At least, I could fit all of these on one mat.  If you haven't downloaded the new Cricut App, you should try it.  If I can help you with it, I will be glad to.

    Thinking of You

    I have had this label saved in My Projects on Design Space for a while.  It has so many little pieces to each element, it took some time to cut.  But I finally got all my paper together and commenced to cutting.  This is the card I made using the label.


    The label is in the Make It Now projects in Design Space or Cricut Access as it is called now.  It is called Anna Griffin Flower Crest.  Like I said there were lots of pieces (some of them intricate) but my Explore cut them beautifully.  

    Here is another view of the label but this one I flattened in Design Studio , then printed it and cut it.  It was a whole lot easier and saved a tremendous amount of time.  The one on the right is the printed one.  I think I'll be using this feature a lot more.  The bird has 3 layers of cardstock but I don't see why he couldn't be flattened and print then cut.

    Pretty Roses-Print Then Cut

    I hope you all have had a beautiful weekend.  We had two gorgeous days, a bit chilly in the mornings but warmed up during the day.  I got quite a bit of crafting done.  Just have to take pictures.  This card I made last week.


    Card Supplies:
    5X7 card base
    Border background - from Anna's Elegant Embellishments 2
    Gold Scrolls - from AG gold embellishments on HSN
    Flowers - 2 print then cut designs from Design Space.  I sized and printed 2 of each, then used foam adhesives to put them together for dimension.  The only thing I would do differently next time is emboss the background paper.
