Since we first started talking about our Valentine Blog Hop, I've given a lot of consideration as to what I would make.  I decided to make a shadow box for my children.  This is the end result before inserting it in the shadow box.

The top photo is a picture of me and my husband when we got married.  I was 16 and he was 19.  We always said we grew up with our children because we were children when we got married.  The bottom photo was taken the Christmas before he passed in March, 2010.

Leaves - Ashlyn's Alphabet Cricut Cartridge
Flourish - cut from White glitter paper with Ashlyn's Alphabet at 5X2.5"
Flower - Cut with Mother's Day Bouquet Cricut Cartridge from Red Glitter Paper.  Cuts are from 3.25" to 1.5" decreasing .25" each cut.  I used Key 31 for my flower.  Roll petals around round pencil to curve.
Rhinestone for the center.

     Large - Cut 2.25 to 1.25 - decreasing .25 each cut.

4th Grade Classroom Door - Every Child Is A Gift

Hi Everyone - I worked yesterday decorating Jacob's teacher's door for Christmas. I made the tag with Very Merry Tags and wrote "Every Child Is A Gift" on it. I cut the Christmas tree on the 24" mat using the Very Merry Tags Christmas Tree. I cut three bows using Tie The Knot and glued them together to make the bow look 3D. I then cut different size presents from Very Merry Tags, Create A Critter, Sweet Treats. I wrote all the names of the children on the presents and made one for Ms. Pennington too. Can you guess who has the biggest present under the tree?

Another Wedding Card

I posted a card last week I made for the wedding couple but I did not like it.  I just can't give a card I'm not happy with.  So Sunday afternoon, I pulled out my green and brown (Stephanie and Christopher's colors) papers again.

This is the card I created for them.  I like it a lot better.  The background paper is My Mind's Eye Fall In Love paper stack.  The brown doily is cut at 4.25 inches using the Storybook cartridge.  The pleated flower is made from the background paper. I attached it to the doily and glued a Prima flower to the top of the pleated flower.  I attached ruffled lace behind the doily.  The "Mr & Mrs" was cut at 1" using the Tie The Knot cartridge.

The message section was created by layering more of the background paper and cream colored cardstock.  The "Just Married" from Tie The Knot was cut at 1 1/2".

Thank You - Digi Stamp and Tie The Knot Cartridge

A friend of mine recently got married and she had ribbon tied everywhere at the wedding and reception. Her aunt is my best friend and she saw me looking at the ribbon. I must confess that I do have a ribbon fetish. Well, Sherry asked me if I would want to have some of the ribbon if Taylor didn't want to keep it. Of course I said, YES!! So I made this card to thank her!

I used a sketch from the Mojomonday Blog to make this card. The ribbon on this card is some of the ribbon that Sherry brought me last week!! I cut the scalloped pieces with the Tie The Knot cartridge and the digi stamp was a free stamp that I downloaded and colored from the Meljen's Digital Blogspot.

Congratulations Christopher and Stephanie!!

As Mom mentioned in an earlier post, her grandson therefore my nephew, Christopher, is getting married on Saturday. He proposed to Stephanie on Thanksgiving Day 2009 at my parents' house. Christopher wanted to do it there so that Papaw (my Dad) could see him propose to Stephanie. He's a thoughtful young man. Since my Dad passed away in March, Christopher asked Mamaw if he could wear Papaw's wedding ring during the ceremony so that part of Papaw would be there with him. Now doesn't that just bring tears to your eyes?? Sure does to mine!! I know Daddy will be looking down from Heaven with a BIG smile on his face on Saturday.

I made this card for Christopher and Stephanie using the Tie the Knot cartridge. Using Design Studio I cut a 5 x 7 card base and removed the cuts of the dove and the holes in the scallops. I then cut another card base at 4.5 x 6.5 with all the cuts. I then cut out a "T" monogram and pop dotted it on the front. I used a ribbon punch in order to tie the ribbon at the top.

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #124

Last Friday on Taylored Expressions a challenge was posted. You can see the sketch we were to use if you click on this link. Donna and I have not entered too many of these but we decided to try this one since we had so many cards we needed to do. This is my entry.


This card is for my grandson's fiance. There is a bridal shower for her this Saturday, August 21. He bowed the knee and popped the big question to her in our kitchen on Thanksgiving last year. It was so special. He said he wanted his Papaw to know he was getting married. I am so thankful Ben got to see him propose. It meant the world to us.

I used several cartridges to make this card. The background strips are from Tie The Knot - the card feature. I cut them thin so they look like labels. The scallop circles are from Mini-Monograms. Bridal Shower and the Umbrella are from Sweethearts. I put pop dots between the two circles and then pop dotted on the card too. It gives them more dimension. I then added lace, ribbon and pearl to the card and stickles to the cutouts in the background strips. I can't wait to give this to Stephanie. I hope she likes it as much as I had fun making it.  I have a cut file for the card details if anyone would like it.

Now it's time for my card using this challenge as inspiration. It's funny how different mine and Mom's styles are sometimes. I told her the other day that she was froo-froo and I was frolic!!

For this challenge, I used paper that I printed from the Papercraft Inspirations website. I covered the base of the card and then cut three 2" wide strips of a coordinating paper. I used the Cindy Loo cartridge to cut the scalloped circles 1 3/4" and the round circles 1 1/2". I then used the (yes, you guessed it) Create a Critter cartridge to cut the penquins at 1 1/4". I made sure that her scarf matched the purple in the paper because we would not want her to be out of fashion - HA!! I pop-dotted the round circle to add dimension. I then cut a purple piece and used the snowflake Martha Stewart punch, cut a blue strip of paper, added ribbon, and bling. The sentiment is from a stamp set that I bought at Walmart. I don't know about you but it's been so hot around here that I'm ready for some snow!!
