My Favorites Cards That Mom Made
Hi Everyone - you need to go pour yourself a cup of coffee and be prepared to sit for a while and read because I have a feeling that this will be a long post. I've been so busy this week taking care of Jacob who has been terribly sick with bronchitis that I haven't had a chance to craft. No crafty for Donna makes Donna a not so happy camper. But I am glad to report that Jacob is feeling better each day - he didn't like being sick but he did like being out of school this week per his doctor's recommendation.
Now on to my post. Mom and I decided that we would pick our favorite cards that the other made throughout the past six months since we started this blog. As I was looking back over the months, it made me realize that Mom and I have been pretty busy. It also made me realize just how talented my Mom really is at her craft!!
Mom and I had been making cards for a long time before we started this blog. So some of these cards were made prior to the start of our blog. The card that I picked as my favorite for July is the birthday card that my Mom gave to my dad for his birthday in August of 2009. This card was my Daddy made over - he LOVED to be outside and when he was out there, he always had his wheelbarrow out. He loved to plant flowers and watch them grow.
Now for August - Mom made this card for a sketch challenge. She gave it to her grandson, Christopher and his fiancee (now wife) Stephanie at one of their bridal showers. I personally think it's gorgeous.
On to September's card - When I was a little girl, I would come home from school and my mom would have made me a new dress to wear to church on Sunday. I was the best dressed little girl at church - my mom could sew so good that you could not tell that my clothes were homemade!! She even made my sister-in-law's wedding dress when my brother got married. Told you she was talented!!
Sew (ha - play on words) Mom made this card and entered it in the Bitten By The Bug 2 challenge in September. Well, she won!! YEA!!! I thought it was kinda ironic that she won a contest featuring something that she also does so well!!
October - Mom entered this card in a challenge on the Cricut Couple's blog. The requirement was to post a card that you had made for someone you loved. Well, there was NO ONE that my Mom loved more in this world than my Daddy. She made this card for him in January of 2010 for their 50th Wedding Anniversary that was on February 5th. As many of you know, my Daddy died on March 5th, 2010 - one month to the day after their anniversary!! When my mom gave my Daddy this card, we were all crying! Daddy was our biggest fan and loved getting our homemade cards. He always thought there was nothing like them!!
Well, now I warned you that this post was going to be long, but I didn't warn you that you might need a kleenex too - SORRY about that!! We're almost done - on to November!
Something that my Mom and I always loved to do together was color. Now Mom has discovered the art of coloring digi stamps. She has served as a Guest Designer on the Doodle Pantry blog. This card was created with one of Laurie Wilson's digis from Doodle Pantry. I personally love this little bird. I've used him on several cards myself and he makes me smile every time I see him!!
Now last but not least, December!! Because of Mom's wonderful talent in card making and coloring digi stamps, she was asked to be on the Design Team for Nettie G's digi stamps. This was one of the cards that she made as part of the Design Team - it's lovely and helps remind us of the true meaning of Christmas!!
Well, I hope you have enjoyed viewing my favorite cards made by my blog partner, best friend, and Mom!! As you have seen, she's not only a great Mom but a very talented crafter!! Love you, MOM!!!!
Thank you so much for visiting with us again today!! If you enjoyed viewing my favorites of my Mom's card, please send her some HUGS!! One can never have too many hugs!! Until another day, God Bless You!!
Donna

Happy Birthday, Brother!

Thanks for your prayers. God Bless You!! Peggy

Sisters
Time once again for the Elizabeth Fashion Show at NettieG's Challenge Blog. We were only required to dress Elizabeth in one of three outfits fit for a lady of the 1910 era. I liked all three outfits so I decided on a sister theme. My sentiment says, "Sisters are different flowers from the same garden." How true is that? You can have 5 siblings from the same family and each one will be different. That being said, I would like to introduce you to Elizabeth and her two sisters.
Card Recipe:
Card - 5X6.5"

Lace, Pearls - Lace on left side is part of paper. Doesn't it look real.

Happy Valentine's Day, Tweetie!
Hello Everyone! I made this card using papers and a digi stamp that I downloaded free from Doodle Pantry. I just love Laurie Wilson's creations. I cut the scalloped hearts using the Lyrical Letters cartridge at 4 3/4" and 4". I ran the white heart through my Cuttlebug using the Heart Embossing Folder. I colored the happy birdy using Promarkers and printed the sentiment on my printer using Word. I think I'll give this one to my son, Jacob. He makes me as happy as the little bird on the card!!
I hope you have a good day and that you'll come back and visit us again tomorrow! We so enjoy your visits and your comments. Until another day, God Bless You!! Donna

Ribbon Organization
I have my craft space in one of my bedrooms which limits my space. So I've taken to trying to organize some of my treasures. Last week I decided to work on my ribbon. This is my finished product.
The rolls ribbon comes on take up a lot of room. So I thought if I created a cardboard spool to wind my ribbon on, I could reduce the space taken up by it. So I created a file in my Gypsy (yes in my Gypsy) using George & Basic Shapes.
This is what my cut looked like after I removed the spools.
This is what each spool looked like. I used heavy paper, Strathmore Vellum Smooth found in the artist aisle at Michael's. It's a pad of paper.
I found these Iris organizers at Hobby Lobby for $6.99. After I finished with my ribbon, I found Iris organizers at Michael's on sale 2 for $9.00, which is the story of my life.
I hope this will give you an idea of how you can free up some space in your craft space. Thank you for visiting us today. We hope you come back tomorrow. God Bless You!!!! Peggy

I Miss You, My Friend
What would we do without friends. Donna and I each have friends that even though we may not speak often or see one another often, when we do get together it is just as though we had not been apart. We take up right where we left off. Dear friends is what I call them. We have made some really nice friends in blogland too. Even though we haven't met, I feel like we have a friendship.
I made this card for one of my dearest friends. I haven't seen her in several months and I miss her. She accepts me for who I am and I do likewise with her. Basketball Card for Braden - Sports Mania
I have a wonderful friend, Sherry, who has a son who's birthday is TODAY which is two days before Jacob's birthday. Braden and Jacob are 3 years and 2 days apart in age. Sherry and I were stay at home moms together for a while and our boys have always been big buddies. Braden is involved in every sport imaginable and right now, he is playing basketball. Thus, I made him a basketball card!!
I used the basketball on the Sports Mania cartridge and Design Studio to weld the basketball shape into a card which I folded in half. I then ran the top layer through the Cuttlebug to add the texture of the basketball. I pop dotted the sentiments that were printed off using Word.
I hope Braden will like it!! He's such a sweet, mannerly young man!! Happy Birthday, Braden!!
Thanks for visiting!! Until another day, God Bless You!! Donna

Ewe Made My Day - Thank Ewe So Much!! Designed2Delight Challenge
Hi Everyone! I've wanted to make an easel card so I thought I would make one for the Designed2Delight Challenge using a free digi from their blog. I printed the directions on how to make an easel card from the Splitcoast Stampers website.
I colored the digi with Promarkers. I colored two sheep and pop dotted them together on the front of the card for dimension.
I cut the following using my Cricut Expression:Fence - My Community Cartridge, page 39 at 2"
Grass - Plantin Schoolbook, page 69 - I used Design Studio to cut two layers of grass for the front and three layers of grass for the inside of the card.
I printed the sentiments off on cream cardstock and pop dotted them. When the card is standing, the grass goes up around the feet of the sheep like he is really standing in a field.
I hope this card provides you with some inspiration. Thanks for visiting and please leave a comment if you see something that you like. Until another day, God Bless You!! Donna

I'm proud of you, Mom, and I'm so glad we are sharing this blogging experience together!! Daddy was right to encourage us to start it!! You're the best!! Love you bunches!!

Love Ewe
I cannot believe it. It snowed 4 to 5 inches here in South Carolina again. This is an unusual winter. But being snowed in gives us more time to make cards. Right?
This is one of the cards I've made recently. The sheep is a product of Designed2Delight. There is a challenge with this digi. Click on the link to see the requirements. This is how I made my card.
Cover 4.25X5.5 card with red foil paper
Cut signs from Freshly Picked cartridge at 2.5X1.5
Cut "Love Ewe" from any cartridge you like. I used Don Juan
and welded them together. Adhere the words to the signs.
Color the digital image. Promarkers. These are the colors I used.
Sheep - Cool Grey, Almond
Fence - Tan, Cocoa
Grass - Grass, Pine
Add tiny hearts above sheep and faux stitching around card.
Thank you for visiting. We love your comments. God Bless You!!! Peggy

Love Struck
I love any cartridge that has lacy, froo froo (Donna's words)and intricate cuts. Love Struck came out last year around this time and it fits the bill. There are quite a few lacy hearts and cuts on it. I made this card to enter in a challenge on Cricutolics. Cricutolics is another Cricut forum started by some ladies in the UK. The challenge is to make a card with a heart from any cartridge.
4.25X5.5" card
Cover is white glitter paper
Heart -3.75X3.5" - Love Struck Cartridge
Love - 2X1" - Love Struck Cartridge - on white glitter paper
Red Mesh, White Double Edge Lace, Valentine Ribbon
Be sure to put mesh, lace and ribbon on the card cover before putting cover on card. Wrap edges under cover.
Thank you for your encouragement and visits. Have a good day. God Bless You!!!! Peggy

Slider Card - Meljen's Challenge
Hi Everyone!! I live in North Georgia near the Tennessee border and we currently have 8" of snow on the ground. Where I live, if it snows, everything comes to a halt so we've been snowed in all day!! And the weatherman is calling for more tomorrow - OMGoodness!!!
I needed to make a card for Jacob's birthday which is Sunday. So I decided that I would try something new by making a slider card and entering it in the Meljen's Challenge. For the challenge this week, you had to make a card that moves. Thus my Slider Card. I didn't know how to make one so I printed the instructions from the Splitcoast Stampers website. I colored two of Meljen's freebie digi stamps using Promarkers (love them!!) The cupcake moves back and forth when you tilt the card.
I hope Jacob likes the card - he'll be 10 on Sunday. Time sure does fly!! Thanks for visiting our blog and we hope you'll find some inspiration. Until another day, God Bless You!! Donna
Elizabeth In Her Underpants
It's time for another challenge on Nettie G's Digital Challenge Blog. This challenge is to introduce Nettie G's new digi set which includes 5 pieces. Over the next 3 weeks we will be having a fashion show with Elizabeth, our model from 1910.
Week 1 - Elizabeth in her undergarments
Week 2 - Elizabeth in her petticoat
Week 3 - Elizabeth in period dress
Now hop on over to NettieG's Digital Challenge Blog and get Elizabeth in her undergarments. She's free. If you make a project using her by Sunday, January 15, 2011, 11:59 PM EST and link it on the blog, you will be sent the next digital image in this progressive challenge.
This is my project using Elizabeth in her undergarments.
The recipe is as follows:
5X6.5" card
Cut card cover (5X6.5") from DCWV Lace and Linen Paper Stack. Don't apply it to the card until ribbon is attached. Make sure ribbon wraps over the top and bottom. That way the cut ends don't show.
Cut oval from contrasting paper using George Cartridge to fit Elizabeth on.
Color Elizabeth. I used Promarkers. Colors I used:
Skin - Ivory, Satin, Coral
Hair - Cool Grey 1 and 5
Corset - Almond, Putty, Blossom
Hose - Blossom
Shoes - Tan, Putty
Adhere Lace to back of oval and apply Elizabeth to the oval
Ribbon
Prima Flower
Spare Parts Brad
The sentiment is computer generated. It says, "Thanks for helping me to hold it together."
Please let me know how you like this format. I'm trying to make it easier to know how to make a project. Thank you for visiting us today. God Bless You!!!! Peggy

Birthday Greetings
Have you ever had one of those days when you would forget your head if it wasn't attached? Yesterday was one of those days. I seem to have more of those days than I care to have lately. LOL That is why my post is late. I apologize. Not only was it late but I forgot to put the picture in it. LOL
This little turtle is bringing "Birthday Greetings" to a very special young man in my life. Jacob is coming next week to celebrate his birthday with me. We will have a grand time.
This little turtle came from Whimsy and Stars Studio. I've entered him in another challenge on CDAC. This card was very simple to make. After I colored him, I found paper that matched perfectly with those colors. I covered a 5X6.5 card with that paper (sorry I don't know what stack it's from) popped my little turtle, added buttons and the sentiment. Promarkers used to color him:
Cupcake - Tan, Cocoa, Vanilla
Wrapper - Vanilla, Saffon
Candle - Aegean, Amber, Yello
Turtle - Marsh Green, Moss Green, Khaki
Hat - Red, Satin
Thanks for stopping by today. We hope you have a wonderful weekend. God Bless You!!! Peggy

Wild Thing, You Make My Heart Sing
Isn't that what you think about when you look at this digistamp? Meet Gary, the Giftbearer. He is a product of Bonibleaux Designs Digis. This website deals mainly in male inspired digital images. Gary was offered on Crafters Digital Art Center's Color Challenge. To enter, we had to create a card with Gary using turquoise, green, rust and grey. This is my rendition.
I created my card background using the above colors. The brads on the side strip coincidentally already had those colors on them.
These are the Promarker colors I used on Gary, the Giftbeater.
Shirt - Honeycomb and Spice
Skin - Satin and Dusky Pink
Hat - Midnight Blue and Cool Grey 2
Pants - Duck Egg and Turquoise
Shoes - Cool Grey 5
Gift - Olive and Pine
Flowers - Leaf Green, Baby Pink, Red, Canary and Purple
After mounting him on a label cut from Lacy Labels (it is the All Boy base cut) the white background seemed too stark, so I applied green chalk to tone it down and help it to blend in.
The inside of the card is decorated using the following cartridges.
Frames - Lyrical Letters - 5X6.5 and 4.75X6.25
Hearts - Love Struck
Wording - Mickey Font, Locker Talk and Paper Lace
I hope you enjoyed meeting Gary today. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll come again tomorrow. God Belss You!! Peggy

CDAC Freebie Challenge
Do you recall me saying I hope things got back to normal (whatever normal is) this week? I have been working hard trying to create some cards for the design team I'm on and for entering challenges. I do believe I get slower. I've seen where some of you say you have the same problem I do, obsessing over what paper, ribbon, embellishments, etc. Maybe we should start our own support group. What could we call it, Paper Crafters Anonymous? Who wants to be my sponsor or counselor?
This little card I made to enter the Freebie Challenge14 over on Crafters Digital Art Center, of which Donna and I are members. This is a very nice group of artists who can introduce you to the world of digital images. The image on this card came from Digistamps4joy, one of the groups at CDAC. I colored this adorable mouse with Promarkers, of course. The background paper is from KandCompany Smitten Paper Stack. After I covered the card, I popped the image for dimension, cut out some hearts from the background paper and added some stickles to them. They were adhered to the image along with some heart bling. The ribbon is from Michael's. The Promarkers I used are:
Mouse - Cool Grey 1 and 2 - Pale Pink and Putty
Heart - Carmine and Magenta
Scarf - Midnight Blue and Cornflower
Thank you for stopping by today. We love your comments. I hope your day is everything you hope for. God Bless You!!!! Peggy

Bugaboo Birthday Card with Paper Lace
When I saw this digi stamp on the Bugaboo website, I knew exactly the card I would make using it and the person who would receive it!! I colored this stamp using my new Promarkers my mom gave me for Christmas! Simply LOVE them and my mom for buying them for me!!
To make this card, I cut a piece of cream colored cardstock at 6" x 12" and scored it at 4" and 8". I used my bone scorer to fold it into three sections and then used a Martha Stewart Border Punch on the front of the card. I then covered the front with purple pattern paper (try saying that three times real fast) and used the same punch on the edge as I used on the cream cardstock. I placed ribbon around the card to hold it closed when tied and then cut one purple mat and one cream mat to go under the digi stamp. I pop dotted Happy Birthday on the front.
As you open the card, you will see the word "Celebrate" cut at 1" using the Paper Lace cartridge - Page 68. On the far left side of the card is the sentiment and then for the center of card, I cut Happy Birthday located on Page 53 of the Paper Lace at 3".
If you've been thinking about purchasing the Paper Lace cartridge and havent' yet, let me recommend it to you. You'll love it - so go ahead and order it!!! You won't regret it (now how's that for enabling?).
Thanks for stopping by our blog and we hope you'll come again!! If you see something you like, let us know!! Until another day, God bless you!! Donna

Designed2Delight Challenge Entry
Faith at Designed2Delight has an an ongoing monthly challenge. You purchase the first digital image and for the remaining challenges you get the digital image free. This is my first attempt at entering one of her challenges. I needed to make a birthday card and thought the little cupcake would make a cute card.
This is an A2 card. I cut a background from the Paper Lace cartridge to cover the card. I put tan mesh across the bottom. After coloring the digital images with Promarkers, I cut them out and applied them to the card. I added a Happy Birthday sentiment and added a bling butterfly. I popped the cupcake with pop dots.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope we can all get back to "normal" (whatever normal is) this week. God Bless You!!!! Peggy
