WISHING YOU A SUNSHINY DAY!! - Paper Lace 2, George, Flower Shoppe

Hi Everyone!

Last week, Mom called me to say that she had made the ugliest card she had ever made that day!  Well, Mom says that a lot and it never turns out to be true.  So I went over to her house to pick up Jacob and sorry to say, I had to agree with her!!  I think she must have been suffering from "card block!!"  She told me that I had to try and make a card using Paper Lace 2 to make up for the one that she had made. 

Well, my best friend, Stacy, had a birthday yesterday and this is my experience using Paper Lace 2!  As you will see, I had my struggles too!!  "Card Block" must be catching!!

Using Cricut Craftroom and my Jukebox, I used the square on George to form a card base sized 10.25" x 6.75.  From the Paper Lace 2 cartridge, I chose to use the Sunflower to form a die cut on the front of the card. 

One problem though - I forgot to remove the outline on the outside of the flowers.  Here's what happens when you do that!!



When you forget to do that, you don't get a card!!  So I put this aside for future use and removed the outline around the flowers. 

I was on the right track then!!

I folded the card in half and inserted blue cardstock for the inside of the card.  I cut out a border of sunflowers for the inside of the card.  I placed a blue border across the center front of the card and made a sunflower at 2 3/4" using the Flower Shoppe cartridge.   

Above is the finished product - all in all I think it turned out pretty good in spite of all my problems at the start.

Boxes For Thick Cards

I've posted some cards recently that if I tried putting them in a regular envelope, they would be crushed.  I mentioned in one of my posts I was going to have to figure out a way to make a box for them.  Well, our friend, Bobby of the Cricut Couple, left instructions in a comment he made.  He's so helpful.  So I took his instructions and made these boxes for two of my cards.

The card for the first one is 6" square, so I cut the bottom at 7 1/16" X 7 1/16". 

Score each side at 1/2 inch.  Fold along scored lines.

You will have a little square in each corner.  I cut one side of the square.

 Fold this corner in and glue to the end of the folded edge.

I put little clips on them to hold them until they dry.  There you have your finished box bottom.  For the top, do the same except cut it 1/16" larger so it will fit over the bottom.  VERY EASY.   Thank you Bobby.


I used white cardstock for the bottom and the same patterned cardstock I used on my card for the top.

The Star Fold card is 7" so I added an inch to the measurements and made the box to fit it.  I am so pleased to have these instructions.  I hope you will find them useful.  I'm sure I will use them over and over.

Accordian Fold Birthday Card

It is midnight and I've just finished my card for today's post.  If this makes no sense, it's because I'm exhausted.  I saw this card and the directions on the Cricut Couple's blog.  Bobby has a wonderful tutorial so I am not going to try and tell you how to make it.  I've put a link to the tutorial here. I am sure it didn't take him as long as it did me to make it.  LOL

I made this card for my sister-in-law's birthday which is Friday.  I used DCWV Lemon Flower Stack.  I ruined several sheets before I finally got it right.  The flowers and leaves are made with the Flower Shoppe Cricut Cartridge. As you can see I placed pearls in the centers of the flowers.  Then placed pearl flourishes (from Michael's) on the top of the card.

This is the inside.  I used the cutouts from the frames on the front.  The frames were made using Elegant Edges Cricut Cartridge.  The edges are inked with Ochre colored ink.

This is a side view to show you the thickness of the top of the card.  I am going to have to figure out a way to make an envelope for it.  Any ideas.
