Masculine Card #1

I know we all have a  hard time with masculine cards so I bought some things to help with this type card.  Months ago I purchased some Anna Griffin die cut called "For The Boys".  I had never used them.  That's how I struggle with guy cards.  Recently I bought a set of Cuttlebug Embossing Folder for him.  I really liked the embossing folders so they got me to thinking about combining the two products.  So I set to work making some cards which I'm going to show you over the next few days.  The first is a card I made for my grandson, Jacob, to give his Dad for Father's Day.

Notice the background embossing and the label at the top have Dad on them.  Craig used to build houses so I thought these embellishments were fitting for him.  I hope he and Jacob like it.

Happy Birthday to My Son-In-Law

I've been away for a few days.  Donna and I went back to SC for the weekend to visit family.  It is always good to get back home.  I think as I age, I love being home more and more.  

My son-in-law has a birthday coming up in a few days so I got busy and made him a card.  He does not like us to give him store bought cards.  I hope he likes this one..

My Cards

I made these two cards using this cute digi, Happy-Digital Stamp Set 595. It has a sentiment with it that says, "Cruisin' in to wish you a Happy Day."  The first is a swing card made using a Cricut Design Space file and paper from my stash.  I got inspiration for the second on Pinterest.  Be sure to go to Sparkle N Sprinkle and look at all the products they have for your inspiration.

Have a Yappy Birthday

I have several masculine birthdays to make in the month of January.  I'm trying to work on my attitude towards masculine cards.  They're not my favorite to make.  But I must tell you a story about 2 birthday cards I made in January, 2014.  I posted them on Pinterest and they have been repinned more than any cards I have made.  Seems like other cardmakers are looking for help with masculine cards as well as me.

This card contains a digi by a new artist, Priscilla Spiteri.  It's called Pup N Boots.  The reason I chose it is because the pup reminds me of Max, my little Maltese.  I colored it with Promarkers and made the card with some scraps from my stash.  This card is for my brother who rescued Max and gave him to me.  I borrowed the sentiment from Priscilla as well.  You can find her on FB.  Just search for her name or click here.  She is just getting started and could use the encouragement.

Folded Shirt Card

September is the birthday month in our family.  This coming Saturday is my brother-in-law's birthday.  He and my sister are big fans of my cards so I wanted to make him one he will like.  I hope this one fits the bill.

Card Supplies:
Tutorial for Folded Shirt Card - There are several on the internet but I found this one to be helpful.  I had printed off one from Martha Stewart but there were no pictures and I need pictures. This one has pictures and a video.  It's from Card Making Magic.com.
Paper is from my stash.  Thinner paper is better.
Ink for inking the edges of the tie.
White gel pin for making stitches on the pocket on the inside.

Male or Female BD Card

I made this card with a sister-in-law in mind. However once I got it made I thought it could be used for a male as well. (You all know I have the most trouble with masculine cards) I used DCWV Sweet Glitter Paper Stack. Not all of the sheets have glitter but a large number of them do.

The card size is 5 1/2 X 4 1/4. All of the elements came from a single page of paper. I just cut around the argyle design to get my label. I then stamped a "Birthday Wishes" on it. You could use this card for something other than birthday.

Stay A While Longer, Donna and A BD Card

Donna is going home today much to my dismay.  However, Jacob is going to stay a few more days.  He usually stays with us a week or two each summer.  We call these times "Camp Grandma."  This year will be different because we lost Papaw Ben, my wonderful husband in March.  He and Jacob always enjoyed one another's company. 

This is the birthday card I made Ben last year.  The reason I chose this theme is because he loved working in the yard more than anyone I ever knew.  I used Walk in My Garden for the elements on this card.  He loved it.

Masculine Card

I have been working on my "Woman Cave" today.  Actually I'm working on getting more room in my sunroom at the same time.  I have a computer in my sunroom that I'm going to move out along with the desk in order to have more space when family visits.  I can't wait to get this done.  But on to why we have this blog.  Making fun stuff.

I have a harder time coming up with masculine cards than I do for ladies.  This one I made for my son's birthday. 

I used Tiny Mosaics Cuttlebug folder to emboss the front of the card.  Embossing adds so much to your creations.  I cut the labels using Accent Essentials Cricut cartridge.  I cut 3 different sizes and stacked them and added the brads, which are K&Company Rough & Tumble Hardware Brads.  I then popped the completed label with adhesive dots. 

For the inside I cut a birthday present from the Stamping cartidge and wrote my message to him on it.   You can also see from this picture the pop dots I used on the label to make it stand out.
