Paper A La Mode Challenge - Tropical

Hi Everyone, it's time for The Outlawz Paper A La Mode Challenge.  Our theme this week is Tropical and our sponsor is Sassy Designs.  My first attempt at this tropical theme ended in putting the card away for a while, maybe forever.  I showed it to Donna and she said, "Wellll, it's not ugly, it's just doesn't look like you, Mom."  You know after that I wasn't about to present it for Design Team work.

So I set about trying to find a tropical image.  A lot of them had a lot more coloring than I had time for.  Plus the pain in my hand from the shingles, it's hard to work some times.  I found inspiration from a card I saw on the internet by Scrappy Chick.  Here is my version.

Card Supplies:
5X6.5 card base
Background Papers - Reflections Designer paper, cardstock, & Digital Paper by Far, Far Hill
Image - Coconut tree by Sweet n' Sassy

Promarkers used to color image:
Leaves - Forest Green, Leaf Green, Lime Green
Coconuts - Walnut, Terracotta
Tree Trunk - Tan, Cocoa

I hope you will venture over to The Outlaws and join in our challenge.  And please leave a comment to let us know you are visiting.  We love to read them  God bless you!!!!  Peggy

Then I got busy and made one for our Thank You theme for this week.  There are several people I need to send a thank you card to for their help since I've had shingles.  This one I will give to Donna.  She is a wonderful daughter and she has taken me to the doctor, brought me food and done anything I needed her to do.  Thank you, Donna.

Silhouette Card File - Jamie Cripps

For those of you who have the Silhouette Cameo, have you discovered Jamie Cripps in the online store?  She also has a blog, Bits of Paper, where she reviews her files and tells you how to make them before she puts them in the Silhouette store.  I am subscribed to her blog feed.  Let me tell you, she has created some very nice files lately.  Just look at yesterday's blog where she had all these card files with different flowers cut out on them. Well, you know I love flowers so I've bought just about all of them.  Plus there's another post today.  OK, stop it Jamie.  I'm going to be broke buying your files.

I decided to make one of the cards today and it was so easy.  Here's a picture of it.

Mine is a little different from Jamie's.  I should have turned my paper for the petals over so they would match the ones cut on the card topper.  Since they didn't match I positioned the top petals so that you see 2 layers..  But I think it turned out ok.  Just another variation of the card.  Check out her blog post to see how to correctly assemble it.

Thank you for visiting with us today. I'm still fighting through these shingles.  I'll be so glad when I can report I have no more pain.  God Bless You!!! Peggy
